Compact SKF 6202-2ZNR deep groove ball bearing with a 15 mm bore, end shields on both sides and a snap ring for direct axial fixing in the housing.
The SKF 6202 -2ZNR deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing for shafts with a diameter of 15 mm. As an SKF Explorer design, this rolling bearing combines a defined manufacturing quality with optimised design features. The combination of sheet metal end plates on both sides and a ring groove with a snap ring in the outer ring simplifies axial securing in housing bores. Manufactured from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element bearing steel, the bearing is suitable for industrial refurbishments, new mechanical engineering designs and commercial workshop applications.
This rolling bearing primarily accommodates radial forces and moderate axial loads in both directions. The pre-fitted snap ring allows you to position the outer ring in a positive-fit manner directly on the housing. This often eliminates the need for additional housing shoulders or retaining rings, thereby keeping the installation space compact in the axial direction. Typical applications are found in assemblies with through-holes in the housing. Wherever particles need to be kept out and direct axial fixation is required at the same time, this design meets the engineering specifications.
The designation -2ZNR describes two design features relevant to practical application: the sheet metal end plates on both sides (2Z) protect the internal steel cage from contamination without creating additional friction. The snap ring (NR) enables direct axial locking within the bearing housing. SKF also manufactures this model to tighter tolerances: dimensional accuracy complies with tolerance class P6, whilst running accuracy meets class P5. This supports precise guidance and smooth running. With normal radial bearing clearance, the bearing is suitable for standardised fit conditions on the shaft and housing.
The dimensions are 15 mm internal diameter, 35 mm external diameter and 11 mm width. The outer ring also features a defined groove into which the corresponding retaining ring is precisely fitted to secure it axially within the housing.
The designation ‘NR’ refers to a ring groove in the outer ring, together with the matching retaining ring. This ring acts as an axial stop within the housing. This often enables designers to dispense with additional housing covers or machined retaining grooves, thereby reducing the space required and simplifying assembly in industrial applications.
The sheet steel cover plates on both sides form a non-contact gap seal with the inner ring. They keep coarse dirt particles and foreign matter out of the rolling element chamber. As the cover plates operate without contact, they do not generate any additional frictional torque and are suitable for applications involving higher speeds.
These classifications indicate a higher level of precision than the standard. Dimensional accuracy to P6 ensures smaller dimensional deviations in the bore and outer ring. Running accuracy to P5 reduces runout error. This promotes smooth running in rotating shafts.
The bearing is designed with standard radial clearance. This standard range is designed for conventional fits and typical operating temperatures. Provided that thermal expansion of the shaft or housing does not require greater operating clearance, this design provides defined guidance.
The rings and rolling elements are made from through-hardened standard roller bearing steel of the 100Cr6 grade. This material is characterised by its hardness, wear resistance and dimensional stability under load. The guided cage is made of profiled sheet steel and maintains a uniform spacing between the rolling elements.
