The SKF 62209 -2RS1 deep groove ball bearing offers double-sided sealing protection with compact dimensions of 45 × 85 × 23 mm for demanding industrial applications.
The SKF 62209 -2RS1 single-row deep groove ball bearing is designed primarily to accommodate radial loads as well as axial forces in both directions. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6), this rolling bearing features a lightweight sheet steel cage and an outer ring without a flange or groove. Compared to the basic 62 series, this design has an increased width of 23 mm. The integrated lip seals help to keep dirt particles and moisture out of the bearing interior.
This bearing unit is primarily used in applications with high levels of dirt and moisture. The sealing lips on both sides ensure that the lubricant remains trapped within the bearing chamber, making it suitable for hard-to-reach installation locations without external relubrication facilities. The component is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius and is intended for use in general mechanical engineering as well as for maintenance and repair work.
The 2RS1 design features seals that make contact on both sides, resting directly against the inner ring shoulder. This contact-sealing action reduces the ingress of fine particles compared with non-contact cover plates. As the bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance and to tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), it can be mounted directly onto cylindrical shafts with a nominal diameter of 45 mm without the need for separate readjustment of the bearing clearance.
With an internal diameter of 45 mm, an external diameter of 85 mm and a total width of 23 mm, this design offers a greater lubricant volume than narrower standard bearings of the same diameter.
The abbreviation 2RS1 refers to a double-sided, sliding contact seal. The sealing lips rest against the inner ring and keep dirt particles out of the raceway system, whilst the lubricant remains inside.
This design features standard radial bearing clearance. The radial operating clearance is designed for standard applications where no extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, or tight press fits, require increased clearance.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. The sealing elements and the grease are designed to withstand this continuous temperature range during operation.
A sheet steel cage keeps the rolling elements at a uniform distance from one another. This cage is characterised by its low weight and good resistance to lubricants and the specified operating temperatures.
Single-row deep-groove ball bearings are primarily designed to withstand radial forces. However, due to the deep grooves in the outer and inner rings, they can also accommodate axial loads in both directions.
