The open SKF 6015 M deep groove ball bearing with a brass cage, measuring 75 × 115 × 20 mm, can accommodate radial and moderate axial loads.
The SKF 6015 M deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial deep groove ball bearing in the Explorer performance class. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6), the component has a bore of 75 mm, an outer diameter of 115 mm and a width of 20 mm. As an open bearing, the design has no integrated seals. The cylindrical outer ring is designed without a flange or ring groove, which allows for flush mounting in suitable bearing housings.
This radial deep-groove ball bearing is designed for industrial applications in which radial forces and accompanying axial loads occur. As it is designed for a temperature range of –20 to +150 degrees, the bearing can also be operated in more thermally demanding environments. The open design allows lubricating oil or grease to be supplied directly to the rolling elements and raceways via the lubrication circuit of the surrounding assembly.
The suffix ‘M’ denotes a brass cage that guides the rolling elements and maintains them at a defined distance. Brass is characterised by high mechanical stability and is suitable for operating conditions involving vibrations. The combination of increased dimensional accuracy (P6) and normal running accuracy (PN) results in lower dimensional deviations on the inner and outer rings, whilst maintaining a standardised normal radial clearance.
With an internal diameter of 75 mm, an external diameter of 115 mm and a total width of 20 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised dimensions of the 6015 series. These dimensions allow for direct fitting onto suitable shafts and into corresponding housing bores.
The suffix ‘M’ denotes the version with a brass cage. Brass cages offer greater stability than simple sheet metal cages and are the preferred choice where the ball cage is subject to vibrations, accelerations or higher thermal stresses.
As an open deep-groove ball bearing, this design has no integrated seals or cover plates. Lubricant reaches the balls unimpeded, which is why protection against dirt and moisture should be provided by the housing design of the relevant assembly.
The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees Celsius. Both the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel used and the brass cage retain their mechanical properties within this range, provided that a temperature-stable lubricant is used.
This design combines dimensional accuracy to Class P6 with standard running accuracy PN. The P6 classification implies tighter manufacturing tolerances for the bore, outer diameter and width compared with the normal standard tolerance, which ensures a precise fit.
This version is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance. This standard bearing clearance is suitable for standard mounting fits and moderate temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, where the radial operating clearance remains within normal limits.
