The SKF 6015/C4 deep groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 75x115x20 mm and a C4 clearance, offers reliable operation under thermal loads.
This single-row deep groove ball bearing 6015/C4, part of the SKF Explorer performance class, accommodates both radial and axial forces in both directions. The open design allows for direct lubrication via the housing system. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel (100Cr6) with a robust sheet steel cage, the design covers a temperature range from –20 to +150 degrees. With dimensional accuracy to tolerance class P6 and normal running accuracy PN, the component is suitable for precisely guided shafts in industrial machinery.
Design engineers primarily use this rolling bearing where high operating temperatures or temperature differences between the inner and outer rings occur. Heat usually causes the shaft to expand more than the surrounding housing. The single-row radial ball bearing compensates for such expansion without causing harmful stress in the rolling elements. Typical applications include industrial assemblies subject to high thermal loads, as well as bearing locations operating at high speeds.
The designation C4 indicates a significantly increased radial clearance, which exceeds the normal operating clearance. This increased radial clearance counteracts the bearing becoming jammed when heated or in the case of tight fits. As this is an open design without integrated sealing washers, the installation location requires an external housing seal to protect against dirt and moisture. This allows the supply of grease or lubricating oil to be precisely tailored to the respective maintenance interval.
C4 denotes a significantly increased radial bearing clearance. This internal clearance between the balls and raceways is greater than in the standard version. As a result, the rotational movement remains smooth even when the shaft and bearing rings expand thermally due to high operating temperatures.
The bearing has a bore diameter of 75 mm, an outside diameter of 115 mm and a total width of 20 mm. The cylindrical outer ring is designed without a ring groove or flange. The tolerance class combines increased dimensional accuracy (P6) with normal running accuracy (PN).
Open roller bearings do not have manufacturer-fitted seals or cover plates. This design minimises internal frictional resistance and allows operation in oil-lubricated assemblies. During installation, an external housing seal is required to retain the lubricant within the bearing chamber and prevent the ingress of foreign particles.
The permissible temperature range is between -20 and +150 degrees. The components, made from fully hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), and the dimensionally stable cage made from sheet steel contribute to high dimensional stability across this entire temperature range.
Bearings in the Explorer series are based on an optimised internal geometry and a heat-treated surface finish on the raceways. This promotes the formation of a lubricating film and ensures an even load distribution across the rolling elements, thereby enhancing operational reliability in industrial applications.
