The SKF 6207-RS1 deep groove ball bearing, measuring 35x72x17 mm and featuring a single-side seal, protects against the ingress of dirt whilst offering low frictional resistance.
The SKF 6207 -RS1 single-row deep groove ball bearing is suitable for accommodating both radial and axial loads in both directions. Thanks to its compact main dimensions – a 35 mm bore, 72 mm outside diameter and 17 mm width – the component can be integrated into existing shaft designs. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) with a robust sheet steel cage, this design is rated for operating temperatures ranging from –20 to +120 degrees. The standard radial clearance ensures balanced operating clearance in standard applications.
This rolling bearing is primarily used where moderate speeds and combined radial and axial loads occur. Typical applications include bearing arrangements with force support on both sides in general mechanical engineering. Thanks to the standard tolerance of class P0 or ABEC 1, the bearing fits onto standard shafts without requiring any special machining. Designers make specific use of the single-sided seal when lubricant needs to be retained within the housing, whilst the opposite side is supplied via an open lubrication zone.
The single-sided RS1 seal protects the rolling elements from dirt particles and moisture from the outside, whilst the open rear side remains accessible. Assemblies can be designed so that one side adjoins a sealed lubricant chamber. Frictional resistance remains lower than with designs that are sealed on both sides. During assembly, the sealing lip must face the contaminated side to ensure the sealing effect is maintained and the bearing seat is correctly centred.
Single-row roller bearings in this series have a bore of 35 mm, an outside diameter of 72 mm and a width of 17 mm. The bearing is made from 100Cr6 bearing steel, has a sheet steel cage and is fitted with a single-sided seal. It can accommodate both radial and moderate axial loads.
The designation RS1 denotes a single-sided sliding contact seal. This sealing lip slides against the inner ring and helps to minimise the ingress of dirt or moisture. Compared with double-sealed bearings, the single-seal design reduces friction losses whilst allowing the open side to come into contact with internal lubricants.
The normal radial bearing clearance corresponds to the standard bearing clearance in the unloaded state prior to installation. It compensates for temperature-induced expansion of the shaft and inner ring during normal operation. This ensures that the rolling elements run smoothly in the raceways without any undesirable stresses occurring during operation.
The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. This operating range is determined by the combination of roller bearing steel, a standard cage and the sealing material. In applications within these limits, the material structure and the sealing lip retain their mechanical strength and sealing performance.
This deep-groove ball bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0 (standard tolerance PN), which corresponds to class ABEC 1 in the US system. This classification defines precise limit dimensions for bore and outer diameters as well as runout, making the component suitable for standard fits in industrial mechanical engineering.
Single-sealed variants such as the RS1 have a sealing disc on only one end face, whilst the other side remains open. Double-sealed bearings completely seal off the lubricant chamber. The single-sealed model is suitable when the bearing is supplied with lubricating oil from one side but requires external protection.
