The SKF 6000-ZTN9 deep-groove ball bearing combines compact dimensions of 10 × 26 × 8 mm with enhanced running accuracy and single-sided protection against contamination.
This single-row deep groove ball bearing 6000 -ZTN9 primarily accommodates radial loads during operation, guides the shaft precisely and handles minor axial forces in both directions. Thanks to its SKF Explorer class design and manufacture from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6), this deep-groove ball bearing is suitable for demanding industrial applications. The cylindrical outer ring has no flange or groove and fits directly into smooth housing bores.
Thanks to the combination of low frictional resistance and increased precision, this unit is primarily used in compact rotating shaft systems and precisely guided drive assemblies. The dimensional accuracy to Class P6 and the running accuracy to P5 ensure low-vibration concentricity. As the design features a standard radial clearance, it is suitable for installation scenarios with standard temperature and fit conditions at operating temperatures ranging from –20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The suffix ZTN9 denotes two key design features: a sheet metal cover mounted on one side protects the interior from coarse foreign particles, whilst the open opposite side allows for targeted relubrication from inside the housing if required. The polyamide cage guides the balls evenly and dampens running noise. Before installation, check the orientation of the cover plate to ensure that the protected side faces the potential source of contamination.
With an internal diameter of 10 mm for the shaft seat, an external diameter of 26 mm for the housing bore and a total width of 8 mm, the unit complies with the metric 6000 series. These standardised dimensions allow for direct replacement in bearing seats manufactured to fit.
The designation TN9 refers to a ball cage made from injection-moulded polyamide. This cage material is characterised by its low weight and good damping properties, which contribute to smooth running. The cage operates reliably within the bearing’s permissible temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
A profiled sheet steel disc serves as a single-sided Z-cover, forming a narrow gap with the inner ring shoulder. It protects the interior of the bearing from the ingress of solid particles without generating additional friction or heat. The open rear side allows for lubricant replacement in bearings where lubricant is supplied from the housing.
These designations define tighter manufacturing tolerances than the standard tolerance. Dimensional accuracy class P6 allows for smaller deviations in bore, outside diameter and width. Running accuracy class P5 relates to the concentricity and axial run-out of the rings. Both classes reduce bearing play under load and improve the concentricity of the rotating shaft.
The permissible operating range of the bearing is between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. Both the structure of the 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel and the polyamide cage are designed for this temperature range. In applications within these limits, the components retain their dimensional stability, provided that the lubricant used is also suitable for the respective operating temperatures.
