The SKF 6305 -RS1/C3 deep groove ball bearing combines a 25 mm bore with a single-sided RS1 seal and increased C3 bearing clearance for demanding industrial applications.
The 6305 -RS1/C3 is a single-row radial ball bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with main dimensions of 25 mm inner diameter, 62 mm outer diameter and 17 mm width. The design is primarily intended to accommodate radial loads as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. A sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements with minimal vibration and retains the lubricant at the contact points. This SKF product complies with tolerance class P0 (standard tolerance according to ABEC 1).
This deep-groove ball bearing is used in designs that require protection against particles on one side whilst utilising a lubricant supply from the unsealed side. The single-sided seal protects the bearing interior from external contaminants, whilst the open opposite side allows for lubricant exchange via a housing oil bath. Thanks to its design, the unit is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
At the same time, the outer ring – which has no groove or flange – facilitates standardised installation in cylindrical housing bores in mechanical engineering applications.
The designation C3 indicates increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. The radial clearance between the outer and inner rings compensates for thermal expansion caused by heating during operation and prevents internal stresses. This variant is suitable for bearing locations where tight fits or temperature effects reduce the bearing clearance during operation.
The RS1 designation refers to a single-sided abiding seal lip that prevents dirt particles from entering the bearing interior.
This single-row deep-groove ball bearing has an inside diameter of 25 mm, an outside diameter of 62 mm and a width across flats of 17 mm. The dimensions comply with the standardised design for standard shaft seats. The outer ring has no ring groove or flange and fits into cylindrical housings.
RS1 refers to a single-sided, sliding seal with a contact sealing lip. It protects the rolling elements on one side against the ingress of contaminants. The unsealed rear side, on the other hand, allows for relubrication via the machine’s lubrication circuit or a closed housing oil bath.
The designation C3 indicates increased radial bearing clearance as supplied. If the bearing rings expand due to heat build-up during operation or contract due to tight fits, this increased clearance helps to prevent the rolling elements from seizing. It ensures smooth running under thermal stress.
The component is designed for temperatures between -20 and +120 degrees Celsius. The roller bearing steel used, the sturdy sheet steel cage and the material of the RS1 sealing lip all remain dimensionally stable and fully functional within this temperature range.
Inside the bearing is a robust sheet steel cage. This design maintains a uniform spacing between the rolling elements and reduces the overall weight of the rotating mass. Sheet steel cages are suitable for standard lubricants and can withstand typical mechanical vibrations during continuous operation.
The raceways and balls are made from through-hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This material is characterised by high strength, wear resistance and dimensional stability under varying radial loads. To prevent corrosion, it requires a dry environment or suitable lubricant protection.
