The 6314 -Z-C3 deep groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager features dimensions of 70 x 150 x 35 mm, with a single-sided sheet metal cover and C3 clearance for applications subject to thermal stress.
This single-row deep-groove ball bearing primarily accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. The design features a bore of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 35 mm. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6 with a sheet steel cage, the bearing complies with the standard tolerance P0/PN (ABEC 1). A cylindrical outer ring without a flange or ring groove facilitates installation in smooth housing bores.
This rolling bearing is primarily used in bearing arrangements operating at medium to high speeds where one-sided protection against the ingress of contaminants is required. The open rear allows lubricant to be applied directly, whilst the cover plate prevents the ingress of particles. The design is suitable for demanding shaft mountings where temperature differences occur during operation.
The suffix ‘Z’ denotes a non-contacting cover plate made of sheet steel on one end face. This cover generates no additional frictional torque and keeps mechanical particles out. The designation C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance. It compensates for operational thermal expansion between the shaft and housing, as well as constriction caused by tight fits, ensuring that the rolling elements roll freely.
With an internal diameter of 70 mm, an external diameter of 150 mm and a width of 35 mm, this design complies with the standard dimensions for compact, heavy-duty bearing units.
A cover plate made of profiled sheet steel, fitted on one side, provides contactless protection for the interior of the bearing against the ingress of coarser particles, without generating frictional heat. The opposite side remains open to allow the supply of lubricant.
Greater radial clearance of class C3 prevents the bearing from becoming stressed due to temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, or from being radially constricted by tight fits on the shaft and housing.
The inner and outer rings, as well as the rolling elements, are made from through-hardened standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. A dimensionally stable cage made from pressed sheet steel ensures that the balls are evenly spaced and guided.
Manufactured to tolerance class P0 (corresponding to PN according to ISO and ABEC 1), the roller bearing meets the standard accuracy requirements for rotating shafts in general mechanical engineering.
Whilst the Z version has a sheet metal cover on one side only, the 2Z variant has cover plates on both sides. The open side of the Z version allows external lubricant to be fed into the interior of the housing.
