The 16007 -C3 deep groove ball bearing from FAG Wälzlager features compact dimensions of 35x62x9 mm and increased C3 clearance for demanding industrial applications.
This single-row deep-groove ball bearing 16007 -C3 from FAG Wälzlager combines a slim design with precise running characteristics. Manufactured from standard rolling-bearing steel (100Cr6), the robust sheet-steel cage reliably guides the rolling elements at operating temperatures between –20 and +150 degrees Celsius. The open design, without integrated sealing washers, allows for flexible integration into existing lubrication systems, for example for oil lubrication or relubrication within a sealed housing.
Design engineers opt for this type of bearing when there is limited axial installation space available within the unit. Due to its narrow width of 9 mm and an outside diameter of 62 mm, the bearing primarily accommodates radial loads as well as moderate axial forces. Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering in designs where the housing is already externally sealed and the lubricant is required to circulate unimpeded.
The suffix C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This feature is useful when temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation, or when tight fits on the 35 mm shaft reduce the operating clearance. The additional bearing clearance prevents stress build-up and maintains the smooth running of the bearing even when it heats up. The tolerance class P0/PN (corresponding to ABEC 1) ensures precise dimensional stability.
With an internal diameter of 35 mm, an external diameter of 62 mm and a width of 9 mm, this component is designed to be particularly narrow. The outer ring has neither a groove nor a flange, which means the component can be easily fitted into cylindrical housing bores.
The designation C3 indicates an increased radial clearance beyond the standard range. This design prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed should the shaft and inner ring expand more than the surrounding machine housing during operation as a result of temperature changes.
Open roller bearings do not come fitted with abiding sealing discs or cover plates as standard. This means there is no additional friction caused by sealing lips. The lubricant reaches the raceways and rolling elements directly, which simplifies integration into existing oil circulation systems or external grease chambers.
The component is designed for an operating range of -20 to +150 degrees Celsius. The combination of hardened 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and a robust sheet steel cage withstands these thermal conditions, provided that the selected lubricant is suitable for the same temperature range.
The component is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 rating. This class provides a practical solution to the standard requirements of mechanical engineering with regard to concentricity and dimensional accuracy.
