The FAG 6034 deep-groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 170 × 260 × 42 mm, features an open design for radial and axial load-bearing applications in industrial machinery.
The FAG 6034 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing without integrated sealing rings. With an inside diameter of 170 mm, an outside diameter of 260 mm and a width of 42 mm, this rolling bearing primarily withstands radial forces as well as moderate axial forces in both directions. The rings and rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. This design is primarily used when the surrounding machine housing provides the lubrication.
The 6034 deep-groove ball bearing is suitable for bearing locations in general mechanical engineering and in industrial plant with separate housing lubrication. Thanks to the deep raceway geometry, the design transmits combined forces directly via the balls to the raceways. As the outer ring has no flange or ring groove, the rolling bearing can be fitted cylindrically into corresponding housing bores. It primarily functions as a fixed or floating bearing on shafts with a diameter of 170 mm.
The open design allows free circulation of lubricating oil or grease directly to the working surfaces. The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements at a uniform distance from one another with low frictional resistance. With a temperature range of –30 to +200 degrees, the component withstands thermal stresses during continuous operation. The tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1 and the standard radial bearing clearance ensure smooth running under standard operating conditions.
With an internal diameter of 170 mm, an external diameter of 260 mm and a total width of 42 mm, the component complies with the standardised main dimensions for roller bearings of this size. Thanks to its cylindrical seat without a flange or ring groove, the component can be fitted flush into prepared housing seats and onto cylindrical shafts.
The sheet steel cage keeps the rolling balls at a uniform distance apart and reduces friction between the rolling elements. The material offers the advantages of low weight and good resistance to lubricants. Furthermore, the sheet steel cage enables operation across a wide temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees without losing its dimensional stability.
Open roller bearings do not have integrated cover plates or sealing discs, which allows lubricants such as oil or grease to reach the rolling elements and raceways unimpeded. This design is recommended where the surrounding unit already has a sealed housing with separate seals and where continuous lubricant replacement or lubricating oil circulation is required.
The P0 or ABEC 1 classification defines the standard tolerance for dimensional and running accuracy in rolling bearings. It meets the usual accuracy requirements of general mechanical and plant engineering. This level of manufacturing precision is entirely sufficient for most standard industrial applications to ensure smooth running and clean power transmission.
Normal bearing clearance (also referred to as CN) is the radial clearance specified by the manufacturer when the bearing is in its unmounted state. This clearance compensates for the thermal expansion of the shaft and housing caused by operation, as well as the expansion of the inner ring during press-fitting. It ensures that the bearing neither seizes up nor overheats during normal continuous operation.
The component has a permissible temperature range of -30 to +200 degrees. The standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel used and the dimensionally stable sheet steel cage retain their structural integrity within this range. When designing the bearing arrangement, the only consideration is to ensure that the selected lubricant can withstand the relevant operating temperatures.
