The SKF 4213 ATN9 deep groove ball bearing, with its two rows of balls, offers compact load-carrying capacity with a 65 mm bore, 120 mm outer diameter and 31 mm width.
The 4213 ATN9 deep groove ball bearing is a double-row radial ball bearing made from standard 100Cr6 rolling-element steel. Thanks to its double raceways, this design can withstand higher radial loads than single-row variants of comparable dimensions. The integrated polyamide cage guides the rolling elements evenly and ensures smooth running. The bearing is designed as an open type and is suitable for applications with an external lubrication supply.
Double-row roller bearings of this type are primarily used when the available radial installation space is too limited for roller bearings, yet the load exceeds the load-carrying capacity of a standard deep-groove ball bearing. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering and on supported shafts in gearbox designs. As both rows of balls provide parallel guidance, the bearing unit accommodates not only radial forces but also moderate axial forces in both directions.
The suffix ATN9 denotes the bearing design with a polyamide cage. This cage material is characterised by its low weight and good damping properties, which reduce noise levels during operation. The permissible temperature range is from –20 to +120 degrees Celsius. As the bearing is of an open design, the installation point requires effective environmental sealing against dirt and moisture.
At SKF, ATN9 refers to a polyamide cage design. This material reduces the moment of inertia of the rotating parts and dampens vibrations. Bearings with this cage are designed for use in a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius.
With a bore of 65 mm, an outside diameter of 120 mm and a width of 31 mm, the bearing complies with standardised dimensions. The cylindrical outer ring is designed without a flange or circumferential groove, which facilitates installation in standard housing bores.
Two adjacent rows of balls within the same pair of rings enable a higher radial load capacity compared with single-row ball bearings of identical main dimensions. The double-row design is used when the load-carrying capacity of a single row of balls is insufficient, but the installation space does not permit the use of a cylindrical or tapered roller bearing.
This roller bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance. Radial clearance refers to the clearance between the balls and the inner and outer rings when the bearing is unloaded and in its assembled state. This standard clearance is designed for standard fit combinations and operating temperatures in industrial applications.
As the bearing is supplied without integrated cover or sealing washers, there is no factory-applied grease inside the bearing. Lubrication is provided by the surrounding machinery system, for example via oil bath lubrication, circulating lubrication or by adding grease to the housing during initial installation.
The manufacturing accuracy complies with the standard tolerance P0 or PN and ABEC Class 1. This standard accuracy class defines the limit dimensions for dimensional, form and runout tolerances and covers the usual requirements in general mechanical engineering.
