The FAG 6044 -M-C3 deep-groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 220 × 340 × 56 mm, a brass cage and C3 clearance, offers reliable load-carrying capacity for heavy-duty industrial applications.
The 6044 -M-C3 deep groove ball bearing is an open, single-row radial ball bearing manufactured by FAG. With a bore of 220 mm and an outside diameter of 340 mm, this large bearing can withstand high radial forces as well as axial loads acting in both directions. As it is manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 in tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), the bearing is suitable for installation in precision-machined shafts and housings in mechanical engineering.
This single-row deep-groove ball bearing is primarily used in large-dimension drive shafts, gearboxes and heavy industrial plant. As it is an open bearing without integrated sealing washers, it can be flexibly integrated into oil- or grease-lubricated recirculating systems. Installation is particularly recommended where external housing seals seal off the lubricant chamber and where continuous relubrication or monitoring of the rolling elements is required.
The ‘-M’ designation indicates a solid brass cage, which guides the rolling elements precisely even under vibration or rapid acceleration. The ‘C3’ designation indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared to the standard range. This compensates for thermal expansion at operating temperatures between –30 and +200 degrees and helps to prevent the rings from becoming stressed in the case of tight fits on the shaft.
This large bearing is manufactured with an internal diameter of 220 mm, an external diameter of 340 mm and a width of 56 mm. The outer ring has neither a groove nor a flange, which allows for flush mounting in cylindrical housing bores.
The code letter ‘M’ refers to a solid brass cage designed to guide the balls precisely. The designation ‘C3’ indicates an increased radial bearing clearance. This combination is suitable for industrial drives subject to thermal stress and generating significant heat.
Lubrication is provided externally, using either grease or oil depending on the system design, as the bearing is of an open design without sealing washers. External sealing systems, such as radial shaft seals in the housing, protect against lubricant loss and the ingress of particles.
The permissible operating range is from -30 to +200 degrees. The roller bearing steel and brass cage retain their dimensional stability throughout this range. Thanks to the C3 clearance, concentricity is maintained even when there are temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
Manufacturing is carried out to standard tolerance class P0 (corresponding to PN or ABEC 1). This classification ensures practical dimensional and concentricity accuracy for standard industrial fits on ground shafts and in precision-turned housing bores.
