The FAG 6321-C3 deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 105 x 225 x 49 mm and featuring increased bearing clearance, offers reliable running characteristics under demanding thermal conditions.
The FAG 6321-C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed primarily for radial loads. With a bore of 105 mm, an outside diameter of 225 mm and a width of 49 mm, this design is suitable for heavy-duty shafts and drives. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) with a conventional sheet steel cage, the bearing also accommodates moderate axial forces in both directions. As an open variant, it can be flexibly integrated into existing lubrication systems.
The 6321-C3 deep groove ball bearing is primarily used in industrial machinery and gearbox construction, where bearing housings are designed for shafts with a diameter of 105 mm. Due to its open design, the bearing is designed for external lubrication via oil or grease within the housing. Typical applications include larger electric motors, gearboxes and industrial plant subject to high mechanical stress. Thanks to its temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees, the component is suitable for a wide range of operating conditions.
The C3 designation indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard. This increased operating clearance compensates for dimensional changes that may occur between the inner and outer rings as a result of heating. The C3 clearance also reduces the risk of the rolling elements becoming jammed when tight fits cause the inner ring to expand. In combination with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1 and the dimensionally stable sheet steel cage, this model is suitable for systems with significant temperature differences during continuous operation.
The roller bearing has a bore of 105 mm, an outer diameter of 225 mm and a total width of 49 mm. The outer ring and inner ring are designed without a flange or ring groove. Thanks to these standard dimensions, the bearing fits into standardised housing bores and onto corresponding shaft seats in general mechanical engineering.
The designation C3 indicates a radially increased bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This clearance compensates for stresses during operation when the shaft expands more than the surrounding housing due to heat, or when interference fits cause the inner ring to expand. As a result, the bearing retains its smooth running characteristics at higher operating temperatures.
As this is an open bearing without integrated sealing washers, operation requires external lubrication with grease or lubricating oil. The bearing housing must therefore be fitted with its own seals. The open design allows for regular relubrication and enables use in oil-sump or oil-circulating lubrication systems.
The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. Both the hardened standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) used for the rings and rolling elements and the sheet steel cage can withstand these temperatures without any issues. During commissioning, care must be taken to ensure that the selected external lubricant covers the same temperature range.
In this design, a sheet steel cage guides the row of balls within the bearing. Sheet steel cages offer good mechanical strength combined with low weight and are characterised by their resistance to lubricants and temperature fluctuations. They are suitable for a wide range of applications in industrial gearboxes and drives.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. This is the standard tolerance for industrial roller bearings, which defines the required dimensional and concentricity accuracy for standard applications. The component can therefore be easily replaced with bearings of the same dimensions.
