The FAG 6212 -2Z-C3 deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 60x110x22 mm, with cover plates on both sides and increased C3 bearing clearance, ensures stable operation during temperature fluctuations.
This single-row deep-groove ball bearing 6212 -2Z-C3 from FAG accommodates radial forces as well as axial loads in both directions. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, this bearing is characterised by dimensional stability and smooth running characteristics. The design features a cylindrical outer ring without a flange or groove. Thanks to its manufacture to standard tolerance P0 or ABEC 1, the component fits precisely into standardised housing and shaft seats.
The 6212 -2Z-C3 deep groove ball bearing is suitable for bearing locations with a shaft diameter of 60 mm where combined loads occur. The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements with low vibration and withstands mechanical stresses. As the end shields provide a non-contact seal, there is no additional friction caused by rubbing sealing lips. This makes it ideal for applications at higher speeds where fundamental protection against the ingress of coarse dirt particles is required.
The C3 classification indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This reserve accommodates thermal expansion at operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees, as well as fit allowances when the inner ring is pressed onto the shaft, without the bearing clearance narrowing to an impermissible extent. The sheet metal cover plates on both sides retain the factory-applied grease inside the bearing and shield it from dust particles, thereby reducing maintenance requirements in enclosed assemblies.
The bore measures 60 mm, the external diameter 110 mm and the width 22 mm. These dimensions comply with the standardised specifications for designation 6212.
The designation C3 indicates increased radial clearance in the bearing compared with the standard version. The additional radial clearance compensates for temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, as well as for press-fit stresses.
The sheet metal end caps on both sides form a non-contact gap seal. They prevent grease from escaping, repel coarse dirt and, unlike abrasive rubber seals, do not cause any additional frictional resistance.
The component is designed for temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees. This range allows for reliable use in assemblies subject to thermal stress as well as in cold environments.
The rings and rolling elements are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. This material ensures high wear resistance, whilst the cage is made from pressed sheet steel.
The component is manufactured to tolerance class P0 (standard tolerance, comparable to ABEC 1). This allows it to be fitted without difficulty into standardised mounting seats in mechanical engineering.
