The 16032 deep-groove ball bearing from FAG Rolling Bearings, with dimensions of 160 × 240 × 25 mm, offers a slim design for radial loads in industrial applications.
The 16032 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) with a 160 mm bore, 240 mm outer diameter and 25 mm width. Manufactured by FAG Wälzlager to tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1), this open roller bearing is primarily suitable for designs with limited axial installation space. The design primarily accommodates radial forces as well as moderate axial loads. Thanks to the sheet steel cage and the absence of abiding seals, the component operates with low friction within a temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
Design engineers and maintenance technicians frequently use the 16032 deep groove ball bearing where large-diameter shafts need to be supported without significantly increasing the housing width. Typical applications include general mechanical engineering, gearboxes and conveyor or drive systems with oil or grease lubrication. As this is an open design without a flange or groove on the outer ring, the component can be fitted into cylindrical housing bores and integrated externally into existing lubrication circuits.
The open design of the bearing allows direct access to lubricant via the housing, but requires a clean installation environment. The standard radial bearing clearance defines the clearance between the rolling elements and raceways, as set by the manufacturer, when the bearing is unmounted. This is suitable for typical operating temperatures and standard shaft fits. When selecting this bearing, please note that it does not incorporate any built-in protection against dust or moisture. External sealing elements on the housing provide additional protection for the raceways against contamination.
This single-row bearing has an inside diameter of 160 mm, an outside diameter of 240 mm and a width of 25 mm. Owing to its diameter-to-width ratio, it is classified as a narrow-profile rolling bearing for large shaft diameters.
As the bearing is supplied from the factory without sealing or cover washers, it does not contain a permanent grease filling. You should apply the appropriate lubricating oil or grease to the component during assembly. The lubricant reaches the raceways and the sheet steel cage directly via the open end face.
The bearing can be used within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. The standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6) used, as well as the sheet steel cage, retain their dimensional stability within this temperature range. When designing the bearing, you should also select a lubricant suitable for this temperature range.
Manufacturing is carried out to tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to ABEC 1. This represents the standard level of precision for industrial applications. It meets the requirements for shaft and housing seats subject to normal loads in mechanical engineering.
Normal bearing clearance refers to the standard radial clearance between the balls and the bearing rings prior to installation. It helps to prevent excessive friction when the inner and outer rings undergo dimensional changes during normal operation due to press-fit forces or thermal expansion.
The sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly along the pitch circle and maintains the correct spacing between the balls. It is characterised by its low weight, free lubricant circulation and resistance to lubricating oil additives and temperatures up to +150 degrees Celsius.
