The FAG 6011-Z deep groove ball bearing, with dimensions of 55 × 90 × 18 mm, is designed to accommodate radial shaft loads whilst maintaining a compact design.
The 6011-Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing manufactured to metric standard dimensions from through-hardened 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel. It primarily absorbs radial forces, but also supports shafts under moderate axial forces in both directions. With a 55 mm bore, 90 mm outer diameter and 18 mm width, this bearing covers common shaft diameters in mechanical engineering. The design is from FAG Rolling Bearings and features a standard radial clearance. A sheet steel cage keeps the rolling elements spaced apart and aids load distribution during operation.
This single-row deep-groove ball bearing is primarily used in rotating shaft arrangements subject to radial forces and moderate axial forces. The 55 mm cylindrical bore allows for direct mounting on suitable shaft seats. In housing designs where lubricating oil or grease is retained inside the housing, the unit can be integrated as a fixed or floating bearing.
The designation -Z refers to a non-contacting cover plate made of profiled sheet metal on one side of the bearing. This metal cover protects the interior of the bearing from coarse particles without generating any additional frictional torque or unwanted heat build-up. The opposite side remains open, allowing housing lubricant to reach the raceways. Before installation, it must be checked whether the single-sided cover is sufficient for the respective sealing concept.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 55 mm, an outside diameter of 90 mm and a width of 18 mm. These standardised key dimensions allow for direct replacement in existing bearing seats in accordance with the metric standard. The outer ring is cylindrical in design and has neither a flange nor a ring groove.
The abbreviation -Z denotes a cover plate made of profiled sheet steel, pressed in on one side. It acts as a non-contact gap seal against foreign particles on the outside, without increasing the friction torque. The open side also allows for the supply of grease or lubricating oil from inside the housing.
This product features standard radial bearing clearance (standard class CN). This design is tailored to standard fits and typical operating temperatures, where there are no extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. It ensures smooth running and provides the necessary freedom of movement for the rolling elements when the bearing is installed.
FAG fits this bearing with a cage made of stamped sheet steel. The cage guides the rolling elements in their raceways, prevents the balls from coming into contact with one another and keeps lubricant requirements to a minimum. Sheet steel cages are lightweight and are suitable for standard mechanical vibrations.
Classification in tolerance class P0 (equivalent to PN and ABEC 1) denotes the standard industrial tolerance for dimensional, geometric and running accuracy. Bearings of this precision grade meet the usual mechanical engineering requirements for fit accuracy and concentricity whilst maintaining economical manufacturing costs.
Lubricant from the housing or oil bath reaches the rolling elements through the open rear end. In the case of grease lubrication, the bearing can be filled manually with lubricant prior to fitting. The fitted cover plate helps to slow down the escape of lubricant towards the protected side of the machine.
