The 6214 -2Z-C3 deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 70 x 125 x 24 mm, with cover plates on both sides and a C3 clearance, offers a robust solution for radial loads in mechanical engineering.
The 6214 -2Z-C3 deep-groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing from FAG Wälzlager designed for industrial drive and machinery applications. The bearing primarily absorbs radial forces, guides the shaft precisely and, thanks to its raceway geometry, also accommodates axial loads in both directions. Thanks to its standardised dimensions, you can easily integrate the bearing into existing assemblies.
This rolling bearing is primarily used in rotating industrial applications characterised by a predominant radial load and fluctuating thermal conditions. The design is particularly suitable for applications where temperature differences occur between the shaft and the bearing housing during operation. The increased bearing clearance helps to compensate for thermal expansion without the bearing becoming stressed. At the same time, the sheet metal end shields effectively protect the bearing interior from coarse dirt particles.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed when heated or in a tight press fit. The 2Z cover on both sides consists of profiled sheet steel discs. These non-contacting gap covers retain the grease inside and generate no frictional heat, ensuring that the temperature range from -30 to +120 degrees remains efficiently usable.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 70 mm, an external diameter of 125 mm and a width of 24 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely onto suitable shafts. The outer ring is cylindrical in shape and has neither a flange nor a retaining groove.
The designation 2Z refers to cover discs made of sheet steel fitted on both sides. These discs form a narrow gap relative to the inner ring shoulder without coming into contact with the rotating parts. They protect the interior from solid contaminants, prevent friction losses and are suitable for higher speeds.
The C3 version has a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard bearing. This clearance is advisable where fits cause the inner ring to expand or where operational temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings. As a result, the bearing runs free of impermissible residual stresses, even when heat is generated.
The bearing is rated for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees. This range is determined by the material properties of the rolling bearing steel, as well as the integrated cover plates and lubricants. The component is therefore suitable for use under standard industrial environmental conditions.
The bearing rings and rolling elements are made from standard 100Cr6 rolling bearing steel. This material offers high hardness and dimensional stability under load. A sheet steel cage is used to guide the balls; it maintains an even spacing between the rolling elements and absorbs vibrations.
The ball bearing complies with the standard tolerance class P0/PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification in the Anglo-American region. This class precisely defines permissible dimensional and running errors and meets the standard accuracy requirements of general mechanical engineering and drive technology.
