The SKF 62308 -2RS1 deep groove ball bearing, measuring 40x90x33 mm and featuring a ground seal on both sides, offers reliable protection against dirt and moisture.
The 62308 -2RS1 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row radial ball bearing manufactured by SKF. With key dimensions comprising a bore of 40 mm, an outer diameter of 90 mm and a width of 33 mm, the rolling bearing accommodates both radial and axial forces on both sides. Manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6, the inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements are characterised by uniform hardness and dimensional stability. An integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements along the raceway. The dimensional accuracy complies with tolerance class P0/PN, comparable to ABEC 1.
This bearing design is used in industrial assemblies where rotating shafts need to be guided and external particles must be kept out. The design is suitable for bearing arrangements subject to combined radial and axial loads. Thanks to the cylindrical outer ring without a flange or groove, the rolling bearing fits positively into the corresponding housing bores. The design is intended to combine mechanical stability with sealed protection against contamination.
The 2RS1 seal, which abuts on both sides, protects the raceways from ingress of contaminants and moisture, whilst the factory-applied lubricant is retained inside the bearing. Together with the standard radial bearing clearance, the assembly maintains dimensional stability within an operating temperature range of –20 to +120 degrees Celsius. This design is tailored to standard mounting fits, thereby ensuring thermal compensation during standard operation. The sealed design reduces the need for additional external components at the bearing location.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 40 mm, an external diameter of 90 mm and a width of 33 mm. These dimensions determine the installation space required on the shaft and in the mounting bore of the housing.
The designation 2RS1 refers to a double-sided, sliding seal. The sealing lips make contact with the inner ring, protecting the interior of the bearing from dust and splash water, and retaining the lubricant within the bearing unit.
The ball bearing is designed for use within an operating temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. This range is determined by the roller bearing steel, the sheet steel cage and the sealing elements.
This deep-groove ball bearing is manufactured with a standard radial clearance. This specification is suitable for standard fit designs where there are no significant temperature differences between the shaft and the housing.
In the bearing, a sturdy sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements evenly along the raceways. This type of cage retains its shape and is suitable for use across the entire temperature range up to +120 degrees Celsius without restriction.
The bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN, which also corresponds to the ABEC 1 specification. This class specifies standardised limit dimensions for bore, outer diameter and width, as well as for concentricity.
