The FAG 6318 deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 90 x 190 x 43 mm, offers smooth, stable operation for demanding industrial applications.
With the 6318 deep-groove ball bearing, you get a versatile rolling bearing from FAG for industrial drives and heavy-duty machinery. This single-row ball bearing primarily absorbs radial loads, but also guides the shaft precisely when subjected to axial forces acting from both sides. Manufactured from standard rolling-element bearing steel 100Cr6, this bearing is characterised by its dimensional stability and load-carrying capacity in continuous operation. This provides maintenance engineers and original equipment manufacturers with a standardised, high-quality component.
Design engineers prefer to use this bearing in general mechanical and plant engineering, as well as in industrial gearboxes and rotating shaft drives. Due to its open design without integrated lip seals, there are no additional friction losses at the sealing lips. This is particularly suitable for applications involving higher speeds, where the bearing is lubricated with oil or grease directly via the housing. The deep raceway geometry ensures an even distribution of load across the rolling elements.
The integrated sheet steel cage guides the rolling elements stably and withstands mechanical stresses within a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees. As no sealing washers are fitted, the lubricant can circulate unhindered and dissipate heat from the contact zone. The standard radial bearing clearance ensures balanced operating clearance under normal operating conditions. When designing this open variant, care must be taken to ensure that the installation point is protected against the ingress of dirt by means of housing seals.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 90 mm, an external diameter of 190 mm and a width of 43 mm. The outer ring surface is cylindrical, with no flange or groove. Before fitting, check that the shaft and housing seats correspond to these key dimensions.
Normal bearing clearance, often referred to as standard radial clearance, defines the internal clearance between the inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements prior to installation. This clearance compensates for the usual reduction in diameter caused by the press fit on the shaft, as well as for operational thermal expansion, without causing any stress.
Both the solid rings and the balls are made from standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6). This case-hardened steel offers high wear resistance and resistance to material fatigue under continuous rolling loads. The cage is made from dimensionally stable sheet steel.
The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees. As it contains neither heat-sensitive elastomer seals nor plastic cages, it is primarily the chosen lubricant that determines the thermal operating limits. For higher temperatures, use a grease or lubricating oil that is suitable for the temperature range in question.
Open roller bearings are supplied by the manufacturer without any seals or cover plates. They are suitable for installation in spaces where a central lubrication system, such as an oil bath or recirculating lubrication, is already in place. Furthermore, this design generates no sealing friction, which enhances efficiency in high-speed shaft applications.
The bearing complies with the standard tolerance P0 or PN, which corresponds to ABEC Class 1 in international terminology. This dimensional and running accuracy fully meets the requirements of most industrial applications in mechanical and plant engineering and facilitates a precise replacement in the event of repairs.
