The SKF 6011-2Z deep-groove ball bearing, measuring 55x90x18 mm and featuring cover plates on both sides, provides protection against dirt at high speeds.
The 6011-2Z deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing made from standard bearing steel (100Cr6) in the SKF Explorer design. The design primarily accommodates radial loads and guides the shaft precisely with low friction. The non-contact sheet metal shields on both sides ensure that the lubricant remains inside the bearing. The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius and has the tighter tolerance class P6 or ABEC 3.
Typical applications for the 6011 -2Z deep groove ball bearing include rotating shaft assemblies and industrial drives subject to predominantly radial loads. As the metal cover plates provide a non-contact seal, they do not generate any additional frictional torque. This design is particularly recommended for high-speed applications where there is moderate exposure to external dust and dirt. The integrated sheet steel cage keeps the rolling elements in order and ensures low-vibration operation.
The design with the suffix -2Z features steel sheet gap seals on both sides, which reduce the ingress of coarse particles. Compared with sliding seals, the bearing maintains smooth rotation and generates less heat during continuous operation. As it is manufactured to tolerance class P6 (ABEC 3), the bearing has tighter dimensional and running tolerances than the standard class. In combination with the standard radial bearing clearance, this ensures precise guidance and smooth running within the bearing housing.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 90 mm and a width of 18 mm. The cylindrical outer ring has no flange or groove, which allows the component to fit flush into cylindrical bearing housings.
The designation -2Z indicates cover plates made of pressed sheet steel fitted on both sides. These gap covers protect the interior from the ingress of solid dirt particles and reduce the escape of grease. As the discs do not rub against the inner ring, friction is kept to a minimum and high rotational speeds are possible.
Tolerance class P6, also known as ABEC 3 in the Anglo-American region, defines tighter manufacturing tolerances in terms of dimensional accuracy and concentricity compared with the standard tolerance class. Bearings of this accuracy class run more smoothly, reduce vibrations and are suitable for precisely guided shafts.
The roller bearing is specified for an operating temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees Celsius. This makes the bearing suitable for typical thermal conditions in industrial mechanical engineering. Neither the standard roller bearing steel nor the metal cover plates are subject to premature deformation within these limits.
The product has standard radial bearing clearance. This standard clearance is calculated to ensure that, once the bearing has been fitted onto the shaft and installed in the housing, the rolling element set continues to run smoothly and without play under normal operating conditions.
Both the rings and the balls are made of standard roller bearing steel (100Cr6), which ensures high fatigue strength and wear resistance. A sheet steel cage is used to guide and separate the row of balls, ensuring reliable positioning even under dynamic loads.
