The single-row deep-groove ball bearing 6052 -M from FAG Wälzlager, featuring a brass cage, offers high load-carrying capacity with main dimensions of 260 x 400 x 65 mm.
The 6052-M deep groove ball bearing is an open, single-row large-size bearing for industrial applications involving high radial loads. Thanks to its solid brass cage and construction from standard 100Cr6 rolling-bearing steel, this FAG rolling bearing is suitable for demanding operating environments within a temperature range of -20 to +150 degrees. With an inner diameter of 260 mm and an outer diameter of 400 mm, this design accommodates not only predominantly radial forces but also axial forces in both directions.
Large machines in general mechanical engineering and plant construction place high demands on the guidance and load-carrying capacity of shaft bearings. The 6052-M deep groove ball bearing is the preferred choice where heavy shafts with a diameter of 260 mm need to be supported. Thanks to its open design, the bearing can be lubricated directly with oil or grease via the housing lubrication system. Typical applications include heavy-duty gearboxes, industrial drives and power units that require guidance with normal radial clearance.
The suffix -M denotes the integrated brass cage, which guides the rolling elements and maintains the correct spacing between them. Compared to simple sheet metal cages, brass is characterised by high strength and favourable emergency running properties. This is crucial for large bearings with an outer diameter of 400 mm in order to absorb vibrations and dynamic loads. During installation, it is important to note that this open bearing requires a housing seal to be fitted on site to prevent the ingress of dirt particles.
With an internal diameter of 260 mm, an external diameter of 400 mm and a width of 65 mm, the bearing has standardised main dimensions. The rolling elements and rings are made from standard rolling-bearing steel 100Cr6, which contributes to high strength in industrial applications.
The suffix -M indicates that the product is fitted with a solid brass cage. Brass cages offer high mechanical stability and reliably guide the balls along the raceways, even under conditions of high acceleration or vibration.
Without integrated cover plates or sealing washers, the open design allows unimpeded access of lubricants to the rolling elements and raceways. The bearing is therefore designed for recirculating oil lubrication or centralised grease supply. Protection against contamination must be provided by the surrounding housing structure.
The permissible operating range is between -20 and +150 degrees. Within this range, the standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and the brass cage retain their dimensional stability. A prerequisite for use is a lubricant that is approved for these temperatures.
This version is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or PN, comparable to ABEC 1. This standard tolerance class is suitable for general mechanical engineering, as it ensures dimensional stability and cylindrical accuracy for standard fits on shafts and in housings.
The design is intended to incorporate standard radial bearing clearance. This radial clearance between the rolling elements and the rings when the bearing is in its unassembled state helps to ensure that, after being pressed onto the shaft, sufficient operating clearance remains to allow for smooth running.
