The 6209 -2Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing, measuring 45x85x19 mm, combines non-contact protection against dirt with a slightly increased bearing clearance for demanding operating temperatures.
The SKF 6209 -2Z/C3 deep groove ball bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed primarily for radial loads, which also accommodates axial forces in both directions. With a bore of 45 mm, an outside diameter of 85 mm and a width of 19 mm, this model complies with tolerance class P0/PN. It is manufactured from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6 and features a sheet steel cage, ensuring dimensionally stable operation. This design is used where coarse foreign particles need to be kept out and thermal effects require increased radial clearance.
This design is suitable for rotating shafts and assemblies subjected to radial and axial forces on both sides, under moderate contamination. The sheet metal end shields on both sides keep out foreign particles without causing sliding friction or additional heating. The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. By design, the unit accommodates combined loads in compact bearing seats.
The suffix 2Z stands for non-contacting gap seals made of sheet steel on both sides. These keep out foreign particles but do not generate any inhibiting frictional torque. The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This clearance compensates for thermal expansion caused by temperature differences between the inner and outer rings and prevents mechanical stress during operation.
The dimensions are 45 mm bore diameter, 85 mm outer diameter and 19 mm width. The outer ring is cylindrical, with no groove or flange. With these standardised dimensions, the roller bearing fits into corresponding housings and onto suitable shaft seats.
C3 denotes a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard tolerance class. This design serves to compensate for thermal differences between the inner and outer rings or to absorb fit constrictions, thereby preventing the rolling elements from becoming jammed.
Sheet steel 2Z cover plates on both sides form a non-contact gap seal. They keep larger particles of dirt away from the raceways but, unlike ablative seals, do not cause any frictional resistance. As a result, heat build-up remains low even at higher speeds.
The roller bearing is designed for a temperature range of -20 to +120 degrees. Both the 100Cr6 roller bearing steel and the sheet steel cage and metal end plates are designed for this operating range.
The inner ring, outer ring and rolling elements are made from standard roller bearing steel 100Cr6. This material offers high dimensional stability under load. A sheet steel cage separates the single-row arrangement of balls and helps to maintain a uniform spacing between them.
The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0 (also known as PN or ABEC 1). This class defines the dimensional and concentricity accuracy required for standard use in mechanical engineering without any specific precision requirements.
