The FAG NJ214 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 70x125x24 mm, offers high radial load-carrying capacity and single-sided axial guidance for demanding industrial applications.
The single-row cylindrical roller bearing NJ214 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 accommodates high radial loads whilst also serving as a support bearing. In this design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has one fixed flange. This allows the inner ring to be removed from one side, which facilitates the installation of the roller bearings. The design complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
Design engineers use this roller bearing when strong radial forces act on the bearing location and the shaft needs to be guided axially in one direction. Typical applications include industrial drives and rotating shaft guides. As the bearing allows axial displacement in one direction, it compensates for temperature-induced changes in the shaft’s length. This helps to prevent axial stress in the drive train and promotes smooth running.
The combination of a polyamide cage and the slightly increased radial clearance (C3) is recommended for applications involving thermal loads or tight fits. The polyamide cage ensures low inertia and quiet running characteristics within a temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The C3 bearing clearance ensures that sufficient radial clearance is maintained even under operational heating conditions. As this is an open bearing without a seal, users can specifically match the lubricant to the external housing seal.
This roller bearing has a bore of 70 mm, an outer diameter of 125 mm and a width of 24 mm. The outer ring is manufactured without a lubrication groove or lubrication bore. Thanks to its standardised main dimensions in accordance with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, the cylindrical roller bearing fits precisely into the corresponding housing bores.
The NJ design refers to a cylindrical roller bearing that acts as a support bearing. The outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has one flange. As a result, the component absorbs axial forces from one direction, whilst the shaft retains axial clearance in the opposite direction. Furthermore, the inner ring can be removed from one side, which simplifies installation and removal.
The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional bearing clearance prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed should the inner ring expand due to heat build-up during operation or should tight shaft fits reduce the bearing clearance. It therefore helps to ensure smooth running even when operating temperatures fluctuate.
The designation TVP2 indicates a polyamide cage. This material is lightweight, operates quietly and dampens vibrations. It is designed for operating temperatures between –30 and +120 degrees Celsius, provided that the lubricant used is compatible with the polyamide.
The NJ214 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is an open design without an integrated seal, meaning that lubrication is provided via the housing. Depending on the application, either grease or lubricating oil may be used. An external housing seal serves to protect the bearing against the ingress of contaminants and moisture.
