The FAG NU326 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with a bore of 130 mm, an outside diameter of 280 mm and a width of 58 mm, can withstand high radial loads.
The NU326 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing in a floating arrangement, manufactured to standard tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. Two fixed flanges on the outer ring guide the set of rollers, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. This allows the inner ring to be removed from both sides, which facilitates the separate assembly of both bearing rings. Designed as an open bearing, the construction operates within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees.
This roller bearing is suitable for bearing arrangements subject to high radial loads where axial displacement must be accommodated. Thanks to the flangeless NU design, the bearing functions purely as a non-locating bearing. The unit compensates axially between the raceways for thermally induced changes in shaft length. The outer ring has neither a lubrication groove nor a lubrication bore, so the lubricant is supplied via the housing or adjacent components.
The solid brass cage M1 guides the cylindrical rollers precisely within the bearing. The material is characterised by high resistance to vibrations and dynamic loads. This design is complemented by the slightly increased radial bearing clearance (C3). This increased internal clearance compensates for fit allowances and temperature differences between the inner and outer rings during operation, thereby preventing the rolling elements from seizing.
With an internal diameter of 130 mm, an external diameter of 280 mm and a width of 58 mm, the bearing complies with the standardised main dimensions. This requires the surrounding shaft and the housing bore to be designed to fit precisely.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to be displaced axially relative to the outer ring and withdrawn from both sides. The bearing is therefore suitable exclusively for supporting radial loads as a pure non-locating bearing.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard ‘Normal’ group. This additional internal clearance serves to compensate for tight fits or operational temperature differences between the shaft and the housing without causing distortion.
A solid brass cage marked M1 is characterised by high mechanical strength and heat resistance. It is suitable for applications involving shock loads, vibrations and demanding lubrication conditions, where alternative cage designs might be subjected to thermal or dynamic overload.
The specified temperature range extends from -30 to +150 degrees. The usable operating temperature in practical applications depends largely on the thermal suitability of the lubricant used, as the open bearing is lubricated externally via the housing.
As an open roller bearing, this design does not feature any integrated sealing washers. Protection against contamination and the retention of lubricant within the bearing area must be achieved structurally by means of external seals in the surrounding housing.
