The FAG N314 -E-XL-M1-C3 single-row cylindrical roller bearing, with dimensions of 70x150x35 mm, is capable of withstanding high radial loads whilst allowing axial displacement when used as a non-locating bearing.
The FAG N314 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is designed as an open, single-row radial roller bearing for industrial applications. Thanks to the line contact between the cylindrical rollers and the raceways, this design can accommodate high radial loads. The brass cage guides the rolling elements in an orderly manner within the roller set, whilst the permissible temperature range of –30 to +150 degrees enables a wide variety of operating conditions in industrial bearing arrangements.
Due to its design, this roller bearing functions purely as a non-locating bearing, as the flangeless outer ring can be removed from both sides. As a result, the bearing directly compensates within the bearing itself for axial length changes in the shaft caused by heating. Typical applications include shaft mountings where, in addition to high radial loads, thermal linear expansion of the structure must be compensated for. The open design requires external sealing as well as lubrication with oil or grease within the adjacent structure.
The M1 version features a brass cage characterised by mechanical strength and heat resistance. In combination with the slightly increased radial bearing clearance C3, this bearing is suitable for applications with tight fits or temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. The increased bearing clearance helps to ensure that the bearing does not become stressed even under operational thermal expansion, and that the smooth running characteristics of tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1) are maintained.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 150 mm and a width of 35 mm. These key dimensions define the installation space required for mounting on the shaft and within the housing.
In the N design, the inner ring has two fixed flanges to guide the rollers, whilst the outer ring is flangeless and can be removed from both sides. This allows the shaft to move axially relative to the housing, thereby compensating for thermal expansion without causing axial stress.
The suffix C3 indicates a radially increased bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance prevents the rollers from seizing up when tight fits or temperature differences between the shaft and the housing reduce the radial operating clearance.
The brass cage is characterised by its strength and resistance to vibration. It guides the rollers in the rolling element set and is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees.
As this model is manufactured without integrated sealing washers, sealing is achieved via the surrounding housing structure. Lubrication can be carried out as required using grease or lubricating oil, as the outer ring does not have its own lubrication groove.
