The SKF NU320 ECM cylindrical roller bearing is an open idler bearing with a 100 mm bore and a brass cage, designed to withstand high radial loads.
The NU320 ECM cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed for high radial loads. With key dimensions of 100 mm bore diameter, 215 mm outer diameter and 47 mm width, the bearing unit supports rotating shafts. The SKF version is manufactured with standard radial clearance. Thanks to its open design without seals, the bearing can be lubricated directly via the housing or an external lubrication system.
As a floating bearing of the NU design, the bearing has two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. This design accommodates high radial forces whilst simultaneously allowing axial displacement of the shaft relative to the housing within the bearing. This allows thermal-induced changes in length to be compensated for without constraint, without causing axial stresses in the bearing system.
The solid brass cage provides stable guidance for the cylindrical rollers and is suitable for demanding operating conditions involving vibrations or varying speeds. As the inner ring can be removed from both sides, the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately. The bearing combines dimensional accuracy to P0 or ABEC 1 with increased running accuracy to P6 or ABEC 3, ensuring consistent running characteristics across a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
With an internal diameter of 100 mm, an external diameter of 215 mm and a total width of 47 mm, the bearing complies with standardised installation dimensions. These dimensions allow for a precise fit in housing bores and on cylindrical shaft seats of the appropriate design.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring is manufactured without flanges. This allows the inner ring to be removed from either side. This design functions purely as a non-locating bearing and compensates for axial shaft displacement within the bearing without restriction.
The brass cage guides the cylindrical rollers precisely and maintains a uniform distance between them. Brass is a material with high mechanical strength and is characterised by its resistance to vibrations and acceleration forces in demanding operating conditions.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -30 and +150 degrees Celsius. Within this range, the rolling elements, rings and brass cage retain their dimensional stability. A suitable lubricant must be used for operation, with thermal specifications covering this temperature range.
The bearing combines two levels of precision: its dimensional accuracy complies with Class P0 or ABEC 1. Its running accuracy is specified to the tighter Class P6 or ABEC 3, which helps to minimise radial runout deviations during rotation.
As an open roller bearing without sealing washers, the NU320 ECM is not filled with lubricant as standard. Lubrication is provided, depending on the application, by grease or oil via the housing design. The outer ring does not have its own groove or lubrication bore.
