The FAG NU317 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing withstands high radial loads whilst maintaining compact dimensions of 85 × 180 × 41 mm in industrial applications.
The NU317 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing for industrial applications subject to significant radial loads. Thanks to the line contact between the rollers and the hardened raceways, this design offers high rigidity. Designed as an open bearing, the unit operates without integrated mechanical seals and can be integrated directly into existing housing lubrication systems. The bearing is manufactured by FAG and complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
The NU design is primarily suitable for bearing locations where purely radial forces act and axial displacement of the shaft must be compensated for by the design. Designed as a non-locating bearing, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring is flangeless and removable from both sides. This allows the bearing arrangement to provide a non-constrained axial length compensation within the bearing itself. Designs in general mechanical engineering utilise this property to accommodate thermal expansion without additional internal forces.
The designation ‘TVP2’ indicates a solid, open-type cage made of polyamide. This cage guides the cylindrical rolling elements with low friction and, due to its low weight, reduces inertial forces during changes in rotational speed. The permissible operating range extends from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The standard radial bearing clearance promotes balanced operating clearance when the bearing is installed, provided that the shaft and housing bore comply with standardised fit specifications.
This cylindrical roller bearing has a bore of 85 mm, an outside diameter of 180 mm and a width across flats of 41 mm. The dimensions comply with standardised series for single-row radial roller bearings and allow for the direct replacement of components of the same dimensions.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. During thermal expansion, the shaft and inner ring can move axially relative to the outer ring without causing internal stresses in the bearing assembly.
The abbreviation TVP2 denotes the polyamide cage design. This material is characterised by good damping properties and low friction on the rollers, and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
Open bearings do not have manufacturer-fitted sealing washers. This design allows for free flushing with lubricating oil or grease from the surrounding assembly; however, it requires a clean installation environment and an external housing seal to prevent the ingress of dirt.
The bearing is manufactured with standard radial clearance. This standard radial clearance is designed to allow the rolling elements the necessary freedom of movement once the bearing has been pressed onto the shaft and fitted into the housing.
The dimensional and running tolerances of this bearing comply with the standard tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification in international terms. This defines standardised accuracy limits for standard industrial drive bearings.
