The FAG NU316 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with an 80 mm bore, offers high radial load-carrying capacity and axial compensation when used as a non-locating bearing.
The NU316 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing from FAG designed for high radial loads. Thanks to the line contact of the cylindrical rollers, the design can withstand high loads. With dimensions of 80 mm inner diameter, 170 mm outer diameter and 39 mm width, the NU design functions purely as a non-locating bearing. The inner ring has no flanges and can be removed from either side, which facilitates the separate assembly of the inner and outer rings.
This non-locating bearing is suitable for mounting positions subject to purely radial loads, where thermally induced changes in shaft length must be compensated for without restriction. The outer ring guides the roller set between two fixed flanges, whilst the shaft can move axially relative to the housing. As this is an open bearing without an integrated seal, external sealing of the bearing location and integration into a lubrication system are required.
The TVP2 version features a polyamide cage, which ensures quiet operation and keeps the weight of the rotating components low. The C3 designation indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This increased clearance prevents the bearing from becoming stressed due to temperature differences between the shaft and housing or in the case of tight fits. The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees and complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 80 mm, an external diameter of 170 mm and a width of 39 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into housings and onto shafts of the corresponding nominal size.
The NU design denotes a non-locating bearing with two fixed flanges on the outer ring and a flangeless inner ring. This allows the inner ring to be moved axially in both directions and removed completely, thereby compensating for changes in shaft length with minimal friction within the bearing.
The suffix C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard clearance. This additional clearance compensates for operational thermal expansion or radial constriction caused by tight fits, without the rollers becoming jammed prematurely.
TVP2 refers to a polyamide window cage that guides the cylindrical rollers. Compared with metal versions, this cage is characterised by its lighter weight and smooth running.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees. This range is primarily limited by the polyamide cage and the lubricant used, which must be suited to the respective operating temperature.
The bearing is of an open design and has no integrated sealing washers. The bearing housing must be sealed externally against dirt and moisture, and regular lubrication must be applied via the housing, as the outer ring has no lubrication bore.
