The SKF NU307 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, a separable single-row bearing with a polyamide cage, offers high radial load capacity with a 35 mm bore and an 80 mm outer diameter.
The NU307 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing from SKF’s Explorer range, featuring an optimised internal design. This design is intended to accommodate high radial forces in industrial applications. With key dimensions of 35 mm bore diameter, 80 mm outer diameter and 21 mm width, the open design is suitable for standard installation spaces in mechanical engineering. SKF manufactures this bearing with standard radial clearance and high running accuracy for industrial use.
Design engineers primarily use this cylindrical roller bearing in bearing arrangements where a purely floating bearing function is required. The NU design allows the inner ring to be removed from both sides, so that axial length changes in the shaft are compensated for directly within the bearing without any constraint. Typical applications include rigid shaft mountings subject to predominantly radial loads and thermal expansion. The open bearing design allows for targeted lubrication with oil or grease via the surrounding housing system.
The integrated polyamide cage guides the rollers with low friction and reduces the weight of the rolling element assembly. Together with the permissible temperature range of –30 to +120 degrees, the bearing is suitable for demanding operating environments. As the inner ring can be separated from the pre-assembled outer ring and roller set, assembly is simplified: the inner and outer rings can be fitted separately onto the shaft and housing. The running accuracy, rated to Class P6 or ABEC 3, ensures smooth concentricity.
This bearing has a bore diameter of 35 mm, an outside diameter of 80 mm and a width of 21 mm. As a single-row cylindrical roller bearing, it transmits radial forces in compact installations. The outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore, which is why the lubricant is supplied via the housing design.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring is flangeless and can be removed from both sides. The bearing functions purely as a non-locating bearing. It does not absorb any axial forces, but compensates for thermal length changes in the shaft directly between the rollers and the raceway.
The polyamide cage is characterised by a low moment of inertia and good sliding properties. It maintains the cylinder rollers at a precise distance from one another and reduces the level of friction in the rolling system. The design is rated for a defined temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees and reduces operating noise during operation.
This design combines dimensional accuracy of class P0 or Standard (PN or ABEC 1) with increased running accuracy to P6 (ABEC 3). This classification ensures smooth rotational behaviour during operation, whilst the mounting dimensions comply with the standardised fit specifications for cylindrical roller bearings.
The permissible operating temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees. This range is limited, amongst other things, by the material of the polyamide cage. To ensure reliable operation, it is recommended that the chosen lubricant – whether grease or oil – be selected to suit the respective operating temperature.
As this bearing is manufactured without sealing washers, the surrounding structure must prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture. External shaft seals or labyrinth seals in the housing protect the raceways from contamination and keep the lubricant within the bearing chamber.
