The FAG NU305 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with dimensions of 25 × 62 × 17 mm, provides a robust floating support with increased radial clearance.
This single-row cylindrical roller bearing, NU305 -E-XL-TVP2-C3, is primarily designed to accommodate high radial forces. Thanks to the line contact between the rollers and the raceways, the design can withstand higher radial loads than a deep-groove ball bearing of the same size. As the inner ring has no flanges, it can be withdrawn from either end. This allows the bearing to compensate for axial changes in shaft length directly within the bearing without inducing stress.
In many machine designs, the rotating shaft expands during operation due to heat generation. The NU305 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing acts purely as a floating bearing in this context. Whilst a fixed bearing elsewhere fixes the shaft axially, the flangeless design of the NU inner ring allows for free axial movement. Typical applications include industrial drives and rolling bearing arrangements subject to high radial loads.
The suffix TVP2 denotes a polyamide cage, which guides the cylindrical rollers precisely and contributes to low noise levels. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. The C3 clearance class denotes increased radial clearance when new. This prevents the rolling elements from seizing up when tight fits cause the rings to expand or when temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 25 mm, an outer diameter of 62 mm and a width of 17 mm. These dimensions correspond to the standardised NU305 series for single-row radial cylindrical roller bearings.
In the NU design, the inner ring has no flanges, whilst the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges. This allows the inner ring to be fitted separately and moved axially, which facilitates installation and compensates for thermal expansion of the shaft during operation.
The designation TVP2 refers to a polyamide cage. This type of cage is characterised by its low weight, elastic properties and the way it guides the rollers. The operating temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius.
C3 refers to a radial bearing clearance in the initial state that is greater than the standard clearance. This additional clearance compensates for dimensional changes caused by press-fit assemblies on the shaft, as well as thermal gradients between the warm inner ring and the cooler outer ring.
As this cylindrical roller bearing does not have integrated seals, a suitable lubricant is required for its operation. Depending on the installation situation and housing design, lubrication is provided either by grease or via an oil circuit with an external housing seal to prevent the ingress of contaminants.
The model is manufactured to the ‘Normal’ tolerance class, which corresponds to the designations P0, PN and ABEC 1 respectively. This precision grade meets the standard requirements for conventional mechanical engineering and industrial drive bearings.
