The SKF NU305 ECP cylindrical roller bearing, with a 25 mm bore and an outer diameter of 62 mm, provides a high-load-capacity idler bearing for radial forces.
The NU305 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing in the SKF Explorer design with an optimised internal structure. Designed as a conventional non-locating bearing, the NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. This design allows for axial displacement of the shaft relative to the housing directly within the bearing. With key dimensions of 25 mm inner diameter and 62 mm outer diameter, and a width of 17 mm, this open roller bearing is suitable for industrial applications involving high radial loads.
This non-locating bearing accommodates radial loads exclusively and compensates for heat-induced changes in shaft length without restriction. The inner ring, which can be removed from both sides, facilitates assembly and maintenance when the rings are fitted separately. Typical applications include shaft mountings where precise radial guidance without axial restraint is required. Manufactured to dimensional accuracy P0/PN (ABEC 1) and with increased running accuracy P6 (ABEC 3), the design ensures smooth running.
The integrated polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight and favourable friction properties. This makes the design suitable for dynamic loads and high-acceleration drives. When designing the bearing, the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees must be taken into account, as this is determined by the cage material. As this is an unsealed bearing without a lubrication bore in the outer ring, the lubricant is supplied via the housing design.
The NU design features two fixed guide flanges on the outer ring and a flangeless inner ring. As a result, the bearing functions purely as a non-locating bearing, which compensates for axial length changes in the shaft during operation without any constraint. The inner ring can be removed from both sides to facilitate installation.
The main dimensions are 25 mm internal diameter, 62 mm external diameter and 17 mm width. These dimensions correspond to the standardised values for single-row cylindrical roller bearings of this size and define the required installation space on the shaft and within the housing.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees. This range is primarily limited by the material of the polyamide cage. For normal operation, a lubricant must be selected which retains the required lubricating effect within this temperature range.
The bearing is designed with a standard radial clearance. This clearance class covers typical operating conditions and fit conditions in general mechanical engineering, where there are no extreme temperature differences between the shaft and the housing.
The bearing is manufactured to two standardised accuracy grades. The dimensional accuracy complies with the standard class P0 or ABEC 1, whilst the running accuracy is to the tighter tolerance class P6 or ABEC 3, which ensures high concentricity.
As the outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore and the bearing is of an open design, lubrication is supplied via the surrounding structure. The lubricant – grease or oil – is applied directly into the rolling element chamber from the side and is protected from contamination by external housing seals.
