The FAG NU2317 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 85 × 180 × 60 mm, provides a robust support for high radial forces in mechanical engineering.
The FAG NU2317 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed to withstand high radial forces. With a bore of 85 mm, an outside diameter of 180 mm and a width of 60 mm, it is used in heavily loaded shaft systems in mechanical engineering. The open design features standard radial clearance and a tolerance class of P0/PN or ABEC 1. An integrated polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers evenly and ensures low-vibration operation.
This cylindrical roller bearing is primarily designed to transmit significant radial forces in industrial bearing arrangements. Thanks to the line contact of the cylindrical rolling elements, the component can withstand high transverse forces. As the outer ring is manufactured without a groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied via the housing design. The design allows operation within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The NU design denotes a non-locating bearing in which the outer ring has two fixed flanges and the inner ring is flangeless. This allows the inner ring to be removed from both sides, which facilitates the separate assembly of both bearing rings. During operation, this design compensates for thermally induced changes in shaft length directly within the bearing without any constraint. It should be noted that a NU bearing accommodates radial forces only, and axial forces must be supported by a separate fixed bearing.
With a bore of 85 mm, an outside diameter of 180 mm and a width of 60 mm, the bearing has standardised key dimensions. This geometry determines the bearing’s fit on the shaft and in the housing. Checking the dimensions of the installation location beforehand helps to ensure a precise fit.
The designation NU refers to a cylindrical roller bearing with two fixed flanges on the outer ring and a flangeless inner ring. The inner ring can be removed from either side. This design acts purely as a support bearing to compensate for thermal length changes in the shaft and does not transmit any axial forces.
The polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers and keeps them at a distance from one another. The use of plastic reduces the weight of the roller set, which promotes smooth running. The material is designed for use in a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
As the open design features no seals and no lubrication bore in the outer ring, the lubricant is supplied via the surrounding housing. Suitable housing seals help to retain the lubricant within the bearing housing and minimise the ingress of contaminants.
Normal radial bearing clearance refers to the factory-set radial clearance between the rollers and raceways prior to installation. This clearance is designed for conventional fits. It ensures that the rings can expand without becoming stressed when they heat up.
Manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1, the component meets the standard accuracy grade for industrial roller bearings. The specified limit dimensions for the bore, outer diameter and concentricity ensure reliable operation in general mechanical engineering.
