The FAG NU2308 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 40x90x33 mm, serves as a single-row support bearing designed to accommodate high radial loads.
The NU2308 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing manufactured by FAG Wälzlager. The design features solid flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. This allows the inner ring to be removed from both sides, which facilitates the separate assembly of both bearing rings. As an open cylindrical roller bearing without an integrated seal, this design is intended for use in oil- or grease-lubricated housings.
In shaft mountings, this design accommodates purely radial loads and compensates for axial changes in shaft length directly within the bearing. As the rollers can slide axially on the cylindrical raceway of the inner ring, no internal stresses arise during thermal expansion. The bearing is primarily used in bearing arrangements where a clearly defined floating bearing function is required. The line contact between the rollers and the raceway ensures a high radial load-carrying capacity under heavy radial loads.
The designation TVP2 stands for a polyamide window cage, which guides the cylindrical rollers securely and reduces the bearing weight. Thanks to the elastic behaviour of the plastic, the bearing runs quietly and can withstand rapid changes in speed. The version with bearing clearance class C3 has a slightly increased radial clearance compared with standard clearance. This clearance prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed if operational heating or tight fits cause the inner ring to expand.
The bearing has a bore diameter of 40 mm, an outside diameter of 90 mm and a width of 33 mm. These dimensions define the radial and axial space requirements for installing the single-row version.
The NU design denotes a non-locating bearing with two fixed flanges on the outer ring and a flangeless inner ring. The inner ring can be withdrawn from either side, thereby allowing changes in the shaft’s length to be compensated for freely within the rolling bearing.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. It compensates for dimensional changes caused by tight fits on the shaft and housing, as well as by temperature differences between the inner and outer rings during operation.
The TVP2 cage is made of polyamide. The material is characterised by its low weight, good damping properties and smooth running. It withstands mechanical stresses and ensures operation within the permissible temperature range.
This open cylindrical roller bearing is rated for an operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. This range is essentially limited by the thermal resistance of the polyamide cage and the properties of the lubricant used on site.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 (normal tolerance, comparable to ABEC 1). The outer ring and inner ring therefore meet the standard accuracy requirements for dimensional and running fits in general mechanical and plant engineering.
