The FAG NU2306 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 30x72x27 mm, offers high radial load-carrying capacity as a separable free end bearing with a lightweight polyamide cage.
The FAG NU2306 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing designed for demanding applications in mechanical and plant engineering. Thanks to the modified line contact between the rollers and the raceway, the design can withstand high radial forces. With a bore of 30 mm, an outer diameter of 72 mm and a width of 27 mm, this open bearing operates in externally lubricated housings within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
Typical applications include shaft mountings subject to high radial forces, where operational length changes must be compensated for. As a floating bearing of the NU design, this model compensates for axial displacement of the shaft within the bearing without any binding. The flangeless inner ring can be removed from both sides, allowing the shaft and housing to move axially relative to one another during thermal expansion without causing stress in the rolling element set.
The abbreviation TVP2 stands for a solid window cage made of polyamide. This material ensures flexible guidance of the rolling elements and dampens running noise during operation. The designation C3 defines a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This variant is selected when tight fits on the shaft or housing restrict the radial clearance, or when operational temperature differences occur between the outer and inner rings. With tolerance class P0 (ABEC 1), the bearing meets basic industrial accuracy requirements.
The nominal dimensions are 30 mm bore diameter, 72 mm outer diameter and 27 mm width. Before installation, the shaft seat and the housing fit must be adjusted to these nominal dimensions to ensure a precise fit.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring is completely flangeless. This allows the inner ring to be withdrawn from both sides, which facilitates the separate assembly of the shaft and housing. The bearing acts purely as a non-locating bearing and accommodates radial forces only.
The C3 bearing clearance offers greater radial operating clearance than the standard class. If tight-fit assemblies are installed, or if the inner ring expands more than the outer ring during operation due to heat, the radial clearance will decrease. The increased initial clearance helps to prevent the bearing from overheating or becoming radially stressed.
The TVP2 cage is made of polyamide and maintains the rollers at a fixed distance. Compared with solid metal cages, the plastic reduces the rotating mass and effectively dampens operating noise. The cage is designed for the bearing’s full operating temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
As this is an open bearing without integrated sealing washers, it requires an external supply of grease or lubricating oil. As the outer ring has no circumferential groove or lubrication bore, apply the lubricant from the side via the housing cavity directly to the raceways and the roller set.
The permissible temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. These limits are determined by the thermal resistance of the polyamide cage and the dimensional stability of the rolling elements. Always select a lubricant that is suitable for this temperature range and the environmental conditions of your application.
