The NU222 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing from FAG is a single-row non-locating bearing with a polyamide cage, designed for shaft diameters of 110 mm under radial loads.
The NU222 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing from FAG Wälzlager is designed to withstand high forces as a radial roller bearing. With key dimensions of 110 mm bore, 200 mm outside diameter and 38 mm width, this design is suitable for demanding industrial applications. As the rollers have line contact, the bearing can withstand greater transverse forces than point-contact ball bearings. The inner ring has no flanges and can be removed from either side, which facilitates installation work on the surrounding structure.
This cylindrical roller bearing is primarily used where high radial loads are present and the bearing serves purely as a non-locating bearing. The design of the NU series compensates for thermally induced changes in shaft length directly between the rollers and the cylindrical inner ring raceway. As the bearing does not accommodate any axial forces, this type is usually combined with a separate fixed bearing.
The polyamide cage (TVP2) guides the cylindrical rolling elements with low vibration and reduced noise. Compared with solid metal cages, the lightweight plastic material reduces the bearing’s mass, which has a positive effect on start-up behaviour. When designing the bearing, the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius must be taken into account. As this is an open bearing without an integrated seal, lubrication and external sealing elements must be adapted to the specific operating environment.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 110 mm, an external diameter of 200 mm and a width of 38 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into corresponding housing bores and onto suitable shaft seats in industrial mechanical engineering.
In the NU design, the outer ring guides the rollers between two fixed flanges, whilst the flangeless inner ring remains removable from both sides. As a result, the bearing functions purely as a non-locating bearing, which freely compensates for axial displacement of the shaft during operation within the bearing.
This model has standard radial bearing clearance. The radial clearance is therefore within the standard range for cylindrical roller bearings of this size, which ensures low-vibration concentricity at normal operating temperatures and under standard fit conditions.
The designation TVP2 refers to a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its low weight, elasticity and good running properties. It is suitable for operating temperatures between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification in the US. This class meets the standard dimensional and concentricity requirements for standard industrial applications.
As this is an open design without sealing washers, lubrication is provided by the housing design. Depending on the speed and operating conditions, either grease or industrial oil is used. External seals on the connecting structure protect the raceways from the ingress of foreign particles.
