The FAG NU2214 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 70x125x31 mm with a C3 clearance and a polyamide cage, offers a high radial load capacity as a separable non-locating bearing.
The NU2214 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing from FAG. With dimensions of 70 mm bore, 125 mm outer diameter and 31 mm width, this design can withstand high radial loads. The cylindrical rollers create line contact with the raceway, ensuring high radial rigidity. This open bearing is designed for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees.
As a non-locating bearing of the NU design, this model has two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless and can be removed from either side. Designs make specific use of this feature to compensate for axial length changes in the shaft caused by heating, without restricting movement within the bearing housing. Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering in bearing arrangements where high radial forces occur and the design is intended to prevent axial stresses.
The TVP2 polyamide cage guides the rollers with low mass, which contributes to smooth running and reduces inertial forces during changes in speed. The C3 designation indicates an increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This clearance compensates for dimensional changes when temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings during operation, or when tight fits are selected. The open bearing complies with tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 70 mm, an outside diameter of 125 mm and a width of 31 mm. It is a single-row open-type roller bearing, the outer ring of which is manufactured without a groove or lubrication hole.
The NU design denotes a non-locating bearing with two fixed flanges on the outer ring and a smooth inner ring without flanges. The inner ring can be pulled out axially in either direction. As a result, the bearing accommodates radial forces only and allows for thermally induced longitudinal displacement of the shaft within the housing.
C3 denotes a radial bearing clearance that is greater than the standard group. This additional radial clearance prevents the rollers from jamming when tight fits on the shaft and housing cause the inner ring to expand or the outer ring to contract. The C3 bearing clearance also compensates for thermal expansion during operation.
The suffix TVP2 denotes a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its low weight and elastic properties. The polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers evenly and contributes to quiet operation.
The permissible operating range is between -30 and +120 degrees. The upper temperature limit is largely determined by the TVP2 polyamide cage, which is specified for use within this range.
As this model is supplied ex-works without integrated sealing washers, sealing is achieved via the surrounding housing structure. The bearing can be lubricated either with oil or grease, with the lubricant directly wetting the exposed rolling elements and raceways.
