The FAG NU2211 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 55x100x25 mm, provides a heavy-duty floating support with increased C3 radial clearance.
The NU2211 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing from FAG designed to withstand high radial loads. With a bore of 55 mm, an outer diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm, the cylindrical rollers support high loads via line contact. The NU design serves as a pure idler bearing, in which the inner ring can be removed from both sides. This allows the unit to compensate for axial shaft displacement directly within the bearing without any positive locking.
Design engineers use this rolling bearing in bearing arrangements that are subjected to high radial forces and must compensate for axial changes in shaft length. Typical applications include bearing arrangements involving temperature-induced shaft expansion. As the inner ring has no flanges, the shaft moves freely axially within the bearing. In combination with a separate fixed bearing, this design helps to prevent damaging constraint forces.
The suffix TVP2 denotes a polyamide cage. The material is characterised by its low weight, dampens running noise and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees. The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance above the standard P0/PN tolerance. This additional clearance helps to prevent the bearing from seizing up due to thermal expansion or tight fits. As an open bearing, this design requires external sealing.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 55 mm, an external diameter of 100 mm and a width of 25 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into corresponding housing bores and onto suitable shaft journals in mechanical engineering.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring is manufactured without flanges. This allows the inner ring to be pulled out axially from both sides. This facilitates the separate installation of both bearing rings and allows for longitudinal movement of the shaft during operation.
Bearing clearance class C3 has a greater radial operating clearance than the standard CN version. This design compensates for temperature differences between the rotating shaft and the housing. Even with tight fits, this ensures there is sufficient clearance for the rollers to run smoothly and with low friction.
The polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers and maintains a uniform spacing between them. Compared with metal cages, this material reduces inertial forces, lowers running noise and ensures a smooth start-up. The material is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
As the bearing is manufactured as an open design without integrated seals, the surrounding housing structure provides protection. Designs utilise external shaft seals, labyrinth seals or sealing gaps for this purpose to prevent the ingress of dirt and the loss of lubricant.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification. These dimensional and running tolerances ensure interchangeability and running accuracy for standardised industrial applications and drives in general mechanical engineering.
