FAG NU2207 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing: Single-row idler bearing with polyamide cage and increased clearance (C3), dimensions 35x72x23 mm.
The NU2207 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing from FAG is a radial rolling bearing designed to withstand high radial loads. Thanks to the line contact between the rollers and raceways, the design can handle transverse forces in compact installations. The single-row bearing has a bore of 35 mm, an outer diameter of 72 mm and a width of 23 mm. As it is designed as an open bearing, lubricant can reach the rolling elements unhindered.
This support bearing guides shafts purely radially and allows for axial length changes within the bearing. The inner ring has no flanges and can be withdrawn from either side, thereby compensating for thermal shaft expansion without causing axial stress. Typical applications are found in mechanical engineering for shaft mountings subject to purely radial loads. The integrated polyamide cage guides the rolling elements with low vibration and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The version with C3 bearing clearance offers advantages when temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation, or when tight fits on the shaft reduce the radial clearance. The increased bearing clearance helps ensure that the rolling elements roll freely even when heated during operation. As the outer ring is manufactured without a groove or lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied directly from the end face. Any external sealing of the bearing housing must be adapted to the ambient conditions.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 35 mm, an outer diameter of 72 mm and a width of 23 mm. These dimensions correspond to the standardised main dimensions for cylindrical roller bearings of this size and allow for direct replacement in existing housings and on suitable shaft seats.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. This allows the inner ring to be removed from either side. The design functions purely as a non-locating bearing and compensates for axial displacement of the shaft relative to the bearing housing within the bearing.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This additional clearance is intended to prevent the rollers from seizing up if the inner ring expands due to heat build-up during operation, or if tight fits on the shaft and housing reduce the radial clearance after assembly.
The polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight, elastic properties and smooth running. It guides the cylindrical rollers and absorbs shock loads. The material is designed for the specified temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
As an open roller bearing, this design does not have any integrated sealing washers. Grease or lubricating oil must be supplied via the housing design. To prevent the ingress of dirt and moisture, as well as the leakage of lubricant, external seals such as shaft seals or labyrinth seals are required in the adjacent structure.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 classification. This standard tolerance class defines precise limit dimensions for the bore, outer diameter and concentricity, which are designed to suit the vast majority of industrial applications in mechanical engineering.
