The FAG NU2206 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 single-row cylindrical roller bearing, with dimensions of 30x62x20 mm, offers a high radial load capacity when used as a non-locating bearing.
As an open, single-row cylindrical roller bearing, the NU2206 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 is primarily designed to accommodate very high radial loads. With a bore of 30 mm, an outside diameter of 62 mm and a width of 20 mm, this design is suitable for demanding industrial drives. The NU design functions as a floating bearing, as the inner ring can be removed from both sides. This allows the bearing to compensate for axial length changes in the shaft directly within the bearing. The bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1.
This design is intended for shaft mountings where significant radial forces are present and axial thermal expansion must be compensated for without restriction. As the bearing has an open design, it can be flexibly integrated into on-site oil or grease lubrication systems. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. Thanks to its separable design, the outer ring, including the roller set, and the inner ring can be fitted separately.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. This increased clearance prevents the rolling elements from jamming when operational heating or tight fits cause the bearing rings to expand. The TVP2 cage, made of polyamide, guides the cylindrical rollers quietly and reduces the weight of the rotating components. When designing the assembly, please note that the NU design cannot transmit axial forces. To provide a complete bearing arrangement, this floating bearing is therefore usually combined with a fixed bearing.
The bearing has an internal diameter of 30 mm, an external diameter of 62 mm and a width of 20 mm. These standardised key dimensions allow for direct replacement in existing housings. Thanks to its cylindrical bore and single-row roller arrangement, the component primarily transmits radial loads in mechanical engineering applications.
The NU design has two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless and can be removed from both sides. The roller bearing therefore functions purely as a non-locating bearing. It allows for axial displacement of the shaft relative to the housing within the bearing. As a result, no axial stresses occur during thermal length changes.
The designation C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance above the standard range. This additional clearance between the rollers and raceways compensates for dimensional changes caused by heating during operation or by tight fits on the shaft and housing. As a result, the bearing operates without excessive preload, even under thermal stress.
The TVP2 cage is made of polyamide and guides the rollers with low friction. The material is characterised by its low weight, which reduces dynamic mass forces during operation. Furthermore, the polyamide cage ensures quiet running and operates within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
For the open bearing, the permissible temperature range is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. The thermal operating limit is determined by the polyamide cage and the selected lubricant. For applications outside these limits, special versions with adapted cage materials or lubricants are required.
As the cylindrical roller bearing is of an unsealed design, the bearing housing must be protected from contamination via the casing and lubricated externally. Depending on the rotational speed and operating conditions, lubrication with grease or oil is suitable for this purpose. The bearing does not have its own lubrication groove or lubrication bore on the outer ring.
