The FAG NU2206 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 30x62x20 mm, with a brass cage and C3 clearance, provides a heavy-duty floating bearing arrangement for high radial forces.
The FAG NU2206 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. With dimensions of 30 mm bore, 62 mm outer diameter and 20 mm width, this bearing can accommodate high radial forces. Due to its NU design, the unit functions purely as a non-locating bearing. The inner ring has no flanges and can be removed from either side, which facilitates installation. As an open bearing without an integrated seal, it is designed for operation in a lubricated housing.
This bearing is primarily used in bearing arrangements where high radial loads occur and thermally induced changes in shaft length must be compensated for. As the inner ring can move axially relative to the roller set, no internal stresses occur within the bearing system. The brass cage guides the cylindrical rollers precisely and is particularly suitable for applications involving high speeds and environments subject to high levels of vibration.
The combination of the brass cage and the increased C3 radial clearance determines the specific operating characteristics of this design. The solid brass cage is characterised by high mechanical strength and withstands high accelerations and vibrations. The slightly increased C3 bearing clearance compensates for radial play when temperature differences occur between the shaft and housing during operation, or when tight fits are specified. The bearing operates within a temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees and complies with the standard tolerance class P0/ABEC 1.
This single-row cylindrical roller bearing has an inner diameter of 30 mm, an outer diameter of 62 mm and a width across flats of 20 mm. In the NU design, the inner ring is flangeless and can be removed from either side. The outer ring has no groove or lubrication bore, which means that the supply of lubricant must be provided via the bearing environment.
The designation NU refers to a cylindrical roller bearing whose outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring is completely flangeless. As a result, the bearing accommodates radial forces only and allows unrestricted axial movement of the shaft relative to the housing. It therefore functions as a conventional non-locating bearing in shaft support arrangements.
The designation C3 indicates a radial bearing clearance that is slightly greater than that for standard conditions. This additional clearance between the rollers and raceways serves to prevent the bearing from seizing should tight shaft fits cause the inner ring to expand or should operational heating occur. It contributes to thermal stability during operation.
The brass cage, designated M1, guides the rolling elements with high mechanical stability. Solid brass reliably withstands dynamic forces, impact loads and vibrations. Furthermore, the material is characterised by favourable friction properties and low noise levels at higher speeds.
The bearing is designed for an operating temperature range of -30 to +150 degrees. This temperature range is supported by the careful selection of materials for the rings and the brass cage. As this is an open bearing without sealing lips, its actual performance depends largely on the thermal stability of the lubricant used.
As the bearing is supplied from the factory without seals, protection against dirt, moisture and lubricant loss must be provided by the surrounding housing structure. Common solutions include shaft seals, labyrinth seals or housing covers. At the same time, the open design allows for a direct and flexible supply of lubricant, whether oil or grease.
