The FAG NU219 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 95 × 170 × 32 mm, is designed as a support bearing to withstand high radial loads.
The FAG NU219 -E-XL-M1-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is an open, single-row radial roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. With a bore of 95 mm, an outer diameter of 170 mm and a width of 32 mm, this design transmits high radial loads thanks to the line contact between the rollers. The design of the NU series guides the rolling elements on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless. This makes this roller bearing particularly suitable for mountings that need to compensate for changes in shaft length.
In bearing arrangements subject to high radial forces, this floating bearing guides the shaft radially and allows axial displacement with minimal resistance. The design compensates for temperature-induced changes in shaft length without inducing stress between the inner ring and the roller set. As the inner ring can be removed from both sides, you can easily separate the bearing rings during assembly. This facilitates installation and maintenance in housings where a fixed bearing and a floating bearing are combined.
The solid brass cage (M1) guides the rollers at a precise distance and is suitable for environments subject to vibrations and high acceleration forces. Compared to sheet metal cages, the material absorbs mechanical loads whilst retaining its shape. The designation C3 indicates an increased radial clearance compared with the standard version. It compensates for thermal differences between the inner and outer rings during operation without the rollers becoming jammed. The operating temperature range is from –30 to +150 degrees Celsius.
With a bore of 95 mm, an outside diameter of 170 mm and a width of 32 mm, the bearing corresponds to the dimensions of the NU219 series. The design is single-row and has no integrated seals, meaning that lubrication is provided externally via the housing.
The outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring is manufactured without flanges. This allows the inner ring to be removed from either side. In service, the bearing acts purely as a non-locating bearing, which absorbs only radial forces and compensates for axial changes in the length of the shaft within the bearing.
The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard tolerance. This additional bearing clearance serves to compensate for restrictions caused by tight fits or operational temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, ensuring that the operating clearance remains within the specified range.
The solid brass cage guides the cylindrical rollers with a high degree of stability. It withstands heavy dynamic loads, vibrations and high speeds. Compared with standard cages made from pressed sheet steel, brass also offers good emergency running properties and proves its worth in demanding industrial continuous-duty applications.
The operating temperature range is from -30 to +150 degrees Celsius. Within these limits, the rings retain their dimensional stability and the brass cage retains its strength. The temperature actually achievable during operation depends largely on the lubricant used in the surrounding housing.
As this is an open design without seals or a lubrication groove on the outer ring, the lubricant is supplied via the surrounding machine housing. Depending on the application and operating speed, apply suitable grease or lubricating oil to the roller bearing via the housing structure.
