The SKF NU216 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is a separable single-row bearing with a polyamide cage, designed for high radial loads, with dimensions of 80x140x26 mm.
The SKF NU216 ECP cylindrical roller bearing is designed as a single-row roller bearing for demanding industrial applications involving purely radial force transmission. Thanks to the line contact between the rolling elements and raceways, this design with an optimised internal structure can accommodate substantial radial loads. With a bore of 80 mm, an outer diameter of 140 mm and a width of 26 mm, this open roller bearing meets standard dimensions in mechanical engineering. Manufactured to tolerance class P0 for dimensional accuracy and P6 for running accuracy, it ensures smooth concentricity.
This design is primarily used where high radial loads occur and shaft expansion must be compensated for without restriction. The NU design functions as a non-locating bearing, in which the inner ring has no flanges and can be removed from both sides. This allows the shaft to slide axially through the bearing with low friction in the event of temperature-induced length changes. Typical applications include industrial bearings subjected to purely radial loads, operating within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees and utilising external housing seals.
The abbreviation ECP denotes the combination of the optimised internal geometry of the Explorer series and a lightweight polyamide cage. This cage guides the cylindrical rollers with low friction and performs well under rapid acceleration as well as at constant speeds. As the inner ring of the non-locating bearing can be removed from both sides, the inner and outer rings are fitted separately onto the shaft and housing seat. The open design requires a targeted supply of lubricant via the bearing environment, as well as an external seal to protect against dirt particles.
The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and a flangeless inner ring. This allows the inner ring to be moved axially in both directions and removed completely. In this configuration, the bearing acts purely as a non-locating bearing, which compensates for thermal length changes in the shaft without any constraint within the bearing.
This bearing has an inner diameter of 80 mm, an outer diameter of 140 mm and a width of 26 mm. With these dimensions, the single-row roller bearing complies with standardised industrial dimensions. As the bearing rings can be separated, it can be fitted to the shaft and housing quickly and with a precise fit.
At SKF, the designation ECP stands for an optimised internal design intended to increase load-carrying capacity, combined with a moulded polyamide cage. The Explorer bearing design is characterised by optimised contact geometries between the rollers and raceways, whilst the polyamide cage ensures low inertial forces and quiet running.
The permissible operating temperature range for this roller bearing is between -30 and +120 degrees Celsius. The upper limit is essentially determined by the material of the polyamide cage and the lubricant selected. To ensure trouble-free operation, a suitable lubricant must be selected within this temperature range.
The product is designed with standard radial bearing clearance. This standard clearance is suitable for standard mounting fits and typical operating temperatures in everyday industrial use. It helps to ensure that the bearing retains the necessary operating clearance after being pressed onto the shaft and fitted into the housing.
The bearing combines dimensional accuracy of class P0 or PN (comparable to ABEC 1) with increased running accuracy to class P6 (ABEC 3). This classification offers precise concentricity for industrial shaft bearings, whilst the mounting dimensions comply with standardised fit specifications.
