FAG single-row cylindrical roller bearing NU215 -E-XL-TVP2-C3, dimensions 75x130x25 mm, floating design and increased C3 clearance for high radial loads.
The NU215 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing from FAG is an open, single-row radial roller bearing designed for demanding industrial applications. With a bore of 75 mm, an outside diameter of 130 mm and a width of 25 mm, this design can withstand high radial forces. Thanks to the line contact between the cylindrical rollers and raceways, the design offers high radial rigidity. The bearing features a lightweight polyamide cage and operates within a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees.
This rolling bearing is primarily used where purely radial forces are acting and axial length changes in the shaft need to be compensated for. As a floating bearing of the NU design, this model has two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless and removable from both sides. As a result, the bearing assembly compensates for thermal linear expansion of the shaft directly within the bearing. Typical applications include shaft mountings subject to high radial loads and assemblies that can be fitted separately.
The designation C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance compared with the standard CN version. This additional clearance is recommended where tight fits on the shaft or in the housing result in a significant radial fit allowance. Furthermore, the increased operating clearance helps to prevent the rolling elements from becoming stressed due to operational temperature differences between the inner and outer rings. During design, it is important to ensure that the open bearing is sealed against the ingress of dirt and supplied with sufficient lubricant.
With an internal diameter of 75 mm, an external diameter of 130 mm and a width of 25 mm, this single-row cylindrical roller bearing complies with tolerance class P0/PN or ABEC 1. The outer ring is designed without a groove or lubrication bore.
In the NU design, the outer ring guides the rollers between two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. The inner ring can be removed from either side. This allows for axial displacement of the shaft relative to the housing in both directions and facilitates the separate installation of both bearing rings.
The polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight, elastic material properties and favourable sliding characteristics in relation to the rolling elements. It guides the cylindrical rollers precisely and ensures smooth running. The permissible operating temperature range for the bearing assembly is between -30 and +120 degrees.
When new, a C3 bearing clearance provides greater radial clearance than a standard bearing. If tight fits are selected during assembly, or if temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings during operation, this reserve of bearing clearance ensures sufficient operating clearance and helps to prevent seizing.
As this bearing is manufactured without integrated seals, the bearing housing requires an external seal to protect against dirt and moisture. Depending on the speed and design, lubrication can be carried out using grease or oil. As the outer ring has no lubrication bore, the lubricant is supplied from the end face.
