The SKF NU214 ECP/C3 single-row cylindrical roller bearing, with a 70 mm bore and increased bearing clearance, is designed as a non-locating bearing for high radial loads.
This SKF NU214 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing is designed as an open, single-row radial roller bearing for demanding mechanical loads. Thanks to the line contact between the rolling elements and raceways, the design can accommodate considerable radial forces. With an outer diameter of 125 mm and a width of 24 mm, the unit complies with standard industrial mounting dimensions. The outer ring has solid flanges, whilst the inner ring is flangeless, allowing for axial displacement during operation.
As a classic floating bearing, the NU design compensates for heat-induced length changes in rotating shafts directly within the bearing housing. Typical applications can be found in general mechanical engineering as well as in drive systems subject to high radial loads. The integrated polyamide cage maintains the rollers at a defined distance, dampens running noise and contributes to smooth running. As the component is supplied in an open design, it requires lubrication via the surrounding housing structure, for example by means of an oil circulation system or targeted grease filling.
The suffixes ECP and C3 describe key technical parameters. The abbreviation C3 denotes a slightly increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This increased clearance is intended to prevent the rolling elements from becoming stressed when tight shaft fits are installed or when operational temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings. The polyamide cage (ECP), together with the optimised internal geometry, enables an permissible operating range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius.
The NU design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and a completely flangeless inner ring. This allows the inner ring to be removed axially from either side. When installed, this design allows for free longitudinal compensation of the shaft relative to the housing, meaning that no axial forces are exerted on the rolling elements.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 70 mm, an outer diameter of 125 mm and a width of 24 mm. These dimensions comply with standardised industrial specifications for cylindrical roller bearings and facilitate replacement in existing assemblies.
The designation C3 indicates an increased radial clearance in the unloaded initial state. It is required when tight fits on the shaft or housing cause the inner ring to expand or the outer ring to contract. Furthermore, the additional radial clearance is intended to reduce the risk of the rollers becoming jammed due to thermal expansion during operation.
The permissible temperature range is from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. This range is essentially limited by the polyamide cage and the lubricant selected for the application. Within this temperature range, the material of the cage retains its mechanical stability and elasticity.
The product has a dimensional accuracy of Class P0 or ABEC 1, which is designed for general mechanical engineering applications. Its running accuracy corresponds to the higher Class P6 or ABEC 3, which contributes to uniform concentricity and low vibration.
As the bearing is manufactured without sealing washers, the lubricant reaches the raceways directly via the surrounding structure. The outer ring has no groove and no lubrication bore. Depending on the machine design, lubrication is provided either by external grease or by the circulating lubricating oil within the housing.
