The SKF NU212 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 60x110x22 mm, offers high radial load-carrying capacity as a non-locating bearing with increased clearance.
The NU212 ECP/C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed for predominantly radial loads in mechanical and plant engineering. In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring is flangeless and can be removed from both sides. This design allows axial length changes in the shaft to be compensated for freely within the bearing itself. An optimised internal design and the lightweight polyamide cage ensure quiet running.
Designs with rotating shafts primarily use this rolling bearing as a non-locating bearing when axial thermal expansion of the shaft needs to be accommodated. Thanks to the line contact of the cylindrical rollers, the design can withstand high radial loads. This design is suitable for bearing arrangements where axial guidance is provided separately by a second bearing. As the inner ring can be withdrawn from both ends, this greatly simplifies the separate installation of both rings into the housing and shaft.
The designations ECP and C3 describe functional characteristics for demanding operating conditions. The polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight and dampens vibrations during operation. The increased radial clearance (C3) compensates for thermal differences between the inner and outer rings, as well as the effects of tight fits. This prevents stress build-up in the rolling element set. The open bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees and requires an external housing seal.
In the NU design, the outer ring guides the rollers between two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to be removed from either side. The bearing functions purely as a non-locating bearing and absorbs only radial forces, whilst axial displacement of the shaft is compensated for without restriction.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 60 mm, an outer diameter of 110 mm and a width of 22 mm. These dimensions correspond to the standardised dimensions for cylindrical roller bearings of this size. The outer ring is designed without a lubrication groove or lubrication bore.
The suffix C3 indicates an increased radial bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This slightly increased bearing clearance prevents the rollers from seizing up should temperature differences arise between the inner and outer rings during operation, or where tight fits are specified on the shaft and housing.
The designation ‘ECP’ refers to an optimised internal design featuring a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its low weight, good sliding properties and elastic damping. The cage guides the rollers precisely and is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
This is an open roller bearing without an integrated seal. An external housing seal must be provided in the surrounding structure to protect against the ingress of dirt. Depending on the operating conditions of the plant, suitable greases or lubricating oils may be used for lubrication.
The bearing combines two standardised tolerance grades: the dimensional accuracy corresponds to tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1, whilst the running accuracy is specified as P6 or ABEC 3. This design ensures consistent concentricity with standardised mounting dimensions.
