The FAG NU208 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing, with dimensions of 40x80x18 mm, withstands high radial loads and compensates for axial length changes without restriction.
The NU208 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row radial roller bearing manufactured by FAG. Thanks to the line contact between the cylindrical rollers and the raceways, the bearing transmits high radial forces. The NU design is characterised by two fixed flanges on the outer ring and a smooth, flangeless inner ring. This allows the inner ring to be removed from both sides, which facilitates assembly and disassembly.
This cylindrical roller bearing is used in bearing arrangements where high radial loads are present and the bearing serves purely as a non-locating bearing. Typical applications are found in general mechanical engineering for shaft guides that require axial compensation. As the flangeless inner ring allows for axial displacement of the shaft within the housing, this design helps to prevent thermally induced stresses in the structure. Due to its design, this version does not accommodate pure axial forces.
The suffix TVP2 indicates a polyamide cage. This material is characterised by its low weight and elastic properties, which contribute to smooth running. The permissible temperature range is from –30 to +120 degrees Celsius. As an open bearing, this model has no integrated seals. The bearing location is therefore integrated into an external lubrication system and protected from ingress of particles by the housing.
The bearing has a bore of 40 mm, an outside diameter of 80 mm and a width of 18 mm. These standardised key dimensions enable it to be fitted precisely into housing bores and onto shafts with corresponding fits in general mechanical engineering.
In the NU design, the outer ring has two fixed guide flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to be removed axially from both sides. The component acts purely as a non-locating bearing and compensates for temperature-induced changes in the length of the shaft relative to the housing within the bearing.
The designation TVP2 refers to a polyamide cage. This plastic cage reduces the weight of the roller guide and dampens vibrations during operation. It is designed for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees Celsius and is suitable for industrial applications within this temperature range.
The model is designed as an open bearing without integrated grinding or cover discs. Furthermore, the outer ring has neither a lubrication groove nor lubrication holes. Lubricant must therefore be supplied via the surrounding housing structure, which also provides protection against contamination.
The bearing is manufactured with standard radial bearing clearance. The dimensional and running tolerances comply with tolerance class P0 or Standard (PN), which corresponds to the ABEC 1 rating. This design meets the requirements of conventional industrial applications with standard precision.
No, the NU design is intended exclusively for radial loads. As the inner ring has no flanges, it does not provide any axial support for the rollers. If additional axial forces occur in the bearing arrangement, these must be accommodated by a separate fixed bearing.
