The FAG NU203 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, measuring 17x40x12 mm, is designed as a support bearing to accommodate high radial loads.
The FAG NU203 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row rolling bearing designed for industrial applications involving high radial loads. Thanks to the line contact between the cylindrical rollers and the raceways, this design offers high rigidity. The NU version has two fixed flanges on the outer ring, whilst the inner ring is flangeless and can be removed from both sides. As a result, the roller bearing compensates for axial displacement of the shaft within the housing without any binding and functions specifically as a non-locating bearing within the system.
Designs subject to purely radial loads and axial thermal expansion constitute the main area of application for this non-locating bearing. Typical applications include industrial drives and shaft mountings where thermal length changes must be accommodated without constraint. As the bearing is of an open design, the bearing housing requires external sealing as well as a suitable lubrication supply with oil or grease. The polyamide cage promotes smooth running.
The version with the suffix TVP2 features a lightweight polyamide cage, which ensures quiet operation and low inertial forces. The increased radial clearance (C3) prevents the bearing from becoming stressed should temperature differences arise between the shaft and housing during operation, or where tight fits are selected. For the intended application, the permissible temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius must be observed. The dimensions are 17 mm bore, 40 mm outside diameter and 12 mm width.
In the NU design, the outer ring guides the rollers between two fixed flanges, whilst the inner ring has no flanges. This allows the inner ring to be removed from either side. This feature facilitates both assembly and disassembly and enables the bearing to compensate for axial changes in shaft length with low friction within the bearing.
The cylindrical roller bearing has an inner diameter of 17 mm, an outer diameter of 40 mm and a width of 12 mm. These dimensions comply with the standardised series and tolerance class P0 or ABEC 1. When designing the connecting parts, you should match these dimensions precisely to the shaft and housing seats.
The designation C3 indicates increased radial bearing clearance compared with standard bearing clearance. This additional radial clearance is useful if the shaft heats up more than the housing during operation, or if tight fits reduce the bearing clearance after installation. This prevents the rolling elements from becoming jammed.
The designation TVP2 refers to a solid polyamide cage. This plastic cage is characterised by its low weight and good damping properties. This reduces the inertial forces acting on the cylindrical rollers, which contributes to smooth running. The permissible temperature range for this design is between –30 and +120 degrees Celsius.
As an open roller bearing, this design has no integrated cover plates or sealing discs. This allows it to be used in oil-lubricated recirculating systems or gearboxes where the lubricant can circulate freely. In the case of grease-lubricated bearing arrangements, protection against dirt and moisture is provided by the surrounding housing structure, for example via external sealing elements.
The bearing is designed for a temperature range of -30 to +120 degrees Celsius. This range is primarily limited by the polyamide cage and the lubricant selected. Within these limits, the components retain their dimensional stability and mechanical properties, provided that they are properly lubricated.
