The FAG NUP317 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 cylindrical roller bearing, with a bore of 85 mm and an outer diameter of 180 mm, provides stable axial guidance under high radial loads.
The single-row cylindrical roller bearing NUP317 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 from FAG is designed for demanding industrial applications where high radial forces must be reliably absorbed. As a fixed bearing, the NUP design accommodates not only the dominant radial loads but also axial guidance forces acting on both sides via fixed flanges and a loose flange disc. The design is characterised by a lightweight polyamide cage and an increased bearing clearance of class C3. With its main dimensions of 85 mm inner diameter and 180 mm outer diameter, and a width of 41 mm, this open roller bearing fits into standardised housing designs.
This fixed bearing is designed for applications that combine heavy radial loads with axial fixation of the shaft on both sides. Thanks to its construction featuring two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange and one loose flange disc on the inner ring, the bearing holds the shaft in position axially. The open design allows for flexible lubrication via the surrounding housing system, whilst the P0 tolerance class ensures precise guidance at nominal temperatures ranging from –30 to +120 degrees.
The combination of the TVP2 polyamide cage and C3 bearing clearance facilitates operation under thermal loads and at varying speeds. The polyamide cage guides the rollers quietly and, thanks to its low mass, reduces the dynamic inertial forces in the bearing. At the same time, the slightly increased C3 radial clearance compensates for operational thermal expansion between the shaft and housing, as well as fit allowances. During installation, care must be taken to ensure that the open bearing is protected against external contamination and that the operating temperature remains within the permissible range of -30 to +120 degrees.
The bearing has a bore of 85 mm, an outside diameter of 180 mm and a width across flats of 41 mm. As it is designed as an open component without a lubrication bore in the outer ring, the installation space must be assessed prior to fitting with regard to external lubrication and sealing elements.
The designation NUP denotes a fixed bearing capable of withstanding axial forces in both directions. The outer ring has two solid flanges, whilst the inner ring has one solid flange and one loose flange disc. As a result, the rolling bearing guides the shaft axially within the housing, whilst the cylindrical rollers simultaneously transmit high radial forces.
Bearing clearance group C3 denotes a radially increased bearing clearance compared with the standard version. This prevents the bearing from becoming stressed when tight fits on the shaft and housing reduce the radial clearance, or when significant temperature differences occur between the inner and outer rings during operation. This promotes smooth running and prevents premature wear.
The polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight, high elasticity and good run-on properties. It guides the rolling elements in a vibration-damping and low-noise manner at medium to high speeds. The specified temperature range for the cage’s material stability is -30 to +120 degrees, which should not be exceeded during continuous operation.
As the bearing is supplied from the factory without either seals or cover plates, lubrication must be provided via the surrounding housing structure. Depending on the operating conditions and speeds, you can use either grease or lubricating oil. It is essential to seal the housing carefully in order to effectively prevent the ingress of dirt and the loss of lubricant during operation.
The roller bearing is manufactured to tolerance class P0 or PN, which corresponds to the ABEC 1 standard. This tolerance class defines limit dimensions for bore diameter, outer diameter and axial runout. It contributes to reliable dimensional accuracy for common industrial shaft and housing fits in general mechanical and plant engineering.
