The NUP2317 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing from FAG Wälzlager combines an 85 mm bore with a fixed-end function and a polyamide cage for high radial loads.
The NUP2317 -E-XL-TVP2 cylindrical roller bearing is a single-row roller bearing from FAG Wälzlager with a bore of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 180 mm and a width of 60 mm. Thanks to the line contact of the cylindrical rolling elements, the bearing can withstand high radial forces. In the NUP version, the unit has two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange and one loose flange disc on the inner ring, enabling it to function as a fixed bearing.
Design engineers and maintenance personnel primarily use this design in bearing arrangements where, in addition to high radial forces, alternating axial loads from both directions occur. Typical applications include shaft mountings subject to combined loads in industrial drives. The single-row roller bearing guides the shaft axially via a positive fit and limits axial play, whilst the cylindrical rollers simultaneously ensure high radial stiffness.
The integrated polyamide cage guides the cylindrical rollers and ensures low-friction and low-noise operation. Compared with solid metal cages, the lightweight plastic material reduces the mass of the rolling element set. As this is an open bearing without an integrated seal, users can select the lubricant and external housing seal to suit the specific operating environment. With normal radial bearing clearance, the design covers a temperature range from -30 to +120 degrees.
The NUP design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange and one loose flange disc on the inner ring. As a result, the unit acts as a fixed bearing and can accommodate axial forces in both directions. It also secures the shaft axially relative to the bearing housing.
The bearing has an inner diameter of 85 mm, an outer diameter of 180 mm and a width of 60 mm. These standardised dimensions facilitate interchangeability within existing assemblies with suitable bearing seats.
The polyamide cage is characterised by its low weight and good damping properties. It maintains a uniform distance between the rollers, minimises running noise and reduces friction within the rolling element set. The permissible operating temperature range for the bearing is -30 to +120 degrees.
An open roller bearing has no integrated sealing washers and is therefore suitable for enclosed assemblies such as gearbox housings, in which oil or grease lubrication circulates. With this type of bearing, protection against contaminants and moisture is provided by external housing seals.
The specification ‘normal radial bearing clearance’ describes the standard clearance between the cylindrical rollers and the bearing raceways prior to installation. This clearance fit is designed for standard shaft and housing seats where there are no extreme temperature differences between the inner and outer rings.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance class P0, also known as standard tolerance PN or ABEC 1. This class defines the permissible dimensional and runout tolerances for demanding applications in general mechanical and plant engineering.
