The FAG single-row cylindrical roller bearing NUP2311 -E-XL-TVP2-C3, measuring 55x120x43 mm, serves as a fixed bearing for high radial loads.
This open cylindrical roller bearing, the NUP2311 -E-XL-TVP2-C3 from FAG, combines a high radial load capacity with the ability to accommodate axial forces in both directions. The NUP design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring, one fixed flange on the inner ring and a loose flange disc. Thanks to this design, the bearing acts as a fixed bearing and secures the shaft axially within the housing. The component complies with tolerance class P0/PN (ABEC 1) and has no electrical insulation.
Design engineers and maintenance personnel primarily use this bearing arrangement on shafts where heavy radial forces occur and, at the same time, axial fixation on both sides is required. Due to the line contact of the cylindrical rollers, the rolling bearing can withstand high radial loads. Typical applications can be found in industrial machinery and plant where high radial loads occur in combination with precise axial shaft guidance.
The designator TVP2 stands for a polyamide cage, which ensures quiet running and favourable friction coefficients. The suffix C3 indicates a slightly increased radial clearance. This increased radial clearance compensates for thermal expansion at operating temperatures between –30 and +120 degrees, as well as for tight fits. As the bearing is of an open design, users must provide an external lubricant supply and a housing seal.
The bearing has an inside diameter of 55 mm, an outside diameter of 120 mm and a width across flats of 43 mm. The outer ring is smooth and has no ring groove or lubrication bore.
The NUP design features two fixed flanges on the outer ring and one fixed flange and one loose flange disc on the inner ring. This enables the bearing to securely fix the shaft in both axial directions. At the same time, the roller set transmits very high radial forces via the contact surface of the cylindrical rollers.
The C3 classification means that, when no load is applied, the radial bearing clearance exceeds the standard value for the standard group. This design is recommended where there are temperature differences between the inner and outer rings, or where tight fits significantly reduce the operating clearance after press-fitting, in order to prevent seizing.
The TVP2 cage is made of polyamide. This material is characterised by its low weight, elastic damping properties and smooth running. The cage guides the rollers precisely and is suitable for operating temperatures ranging from -30 to +120 degrees.
As the bearing is supplied from the factory without integrated sealing washers, it is designed for operation with an external lubricant supply using oil or grease. The adjacent structure within the housing must be fitted with suitable shaft seals or labyrinth seals to prevent the ingress of contaminants and lubricant loss.
The bearing is manufactured to the standard tolerance P0, which corresponds to the PN classification or the ABEC 1 standard. This precision class fully meets the usual quality requirements in general mechanical engineering, gearbox manufacturing and plant engineering.
